Charging takes around 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours to fully charge the case. I noticed that when charging the case, if you have an additional micro USB cable, you can charge the case and charge your earphones at the same time, which is very handy. On the bottom of the case are four LED’s and a button. These are an indication as to how much power is left in the Power Capsule’s battery, but they also show how far off been fully charged the Power Capsule’s battery is when you are charging the case. I’ll explain this;
Pressing the battery status button on the case (when the case it not on charge), will light up the LED’s. So for example, if all four LED’s are lit, this means the Power Capsule’s battery has 100 percent battery remaining and if two LED’s are lit would mean the Power Capsule’s battery has 50 percent battery remaining. Also, when the case is on charge, pressing the battery status button will light up the LED’s and from this you can see how far off the case is off been fully charged, so for example, if two LED’s are lit, this means the case is 50 percent charged.
Now moving on to the inside of the case. Inside the case is a USB port. You can use the supplied micro USB cable (or whatever cable came with your bluetooth earphones or other wearable) and from there you connect the other end of the cable to the device you are wanting to charge. My Bose Soundsport wireless earphones take around 1 hour 30 minutes to charge, but charging time can vary depending on the model of earphones, wearable. Having just the USB port inside, rather than some hard wired cable that has a micro USB plug on the end, is a really good idea on the part of Mophie, as it means that you can connect any USB cable into it, whether its USB-C, USB to Lightning, or even a short version of the Magnetic Charging cable that comes with the Apple Watch (yes it is possible to charge the Apple Watch, I have tried this) of some of the other fitness trackers that are available now.
Now on to a couple of little niggles that I have with this case:
1: I would like for there to have been an extra LED on the bottom, which would indicate when the connected item was charged, as the only way to check is to open the case and look at the LED on the device that is on charge. Admittedly not a big deal.
2: I would like to have had a mesh pocket on the inside, where the supplied micro USB cable could be stored until it was needed.
All in all, I can highly recommend the Mophie Power Capsule, it's not only an ideal way to carry your earphones (or other wearable) around with the extra protection the fairly hard outer construction offers, but also an extremely convenient way of been able to charge your device on the go.
