Worth having

I bought this for my SPV M700, using the built in GPS in my phone. The full maps for the whole of Europe are very up to date, (new roads that TomTom doesnt show,) and all maps can be cut to save disk space. The interface works well, although the 3D dsiplay can be a bit jerky. POIs can be imported from most major types and all in all, I am very pleased with it.

Destinator 6 Europe for PDA

I used this product to travel in Ireland, Portugal, Spain and France over a period of about 3 months. It has strong and weak points. Strengths are navigating cities, it does this very well with clear instructions even in difficult situations. In most cases the maps were up to date. The weakness in the product (and it is a massive weakness) is its ability to navigate from town to town. You are offered two options, fastest or shortest. Included is a toggle to select/bar tollways. When choosing fastest it very often takes you on a very minor road rather than a more major road. Probably because the minor road is just a bit shorter and in its database they both show the same speed limit. I can tell you that it is impossible to get out of third gear on some of the roads preferred by Destinator. I found that you had to ignore most directions in the countryside where there are multiple roads between places and use your own judgement. That's ok but why by a gps if you need to do that. It saved my bacon but I will be trying another product next time.
