Does what it is supposed to do
If you have an old dock which uses the 30-pin connector then you need this, I have one so this did not make my dock old and so I dont have to buy a new dock but the long wires for both the 3.5mm lead and the usb to lightning cable have made a mess but I have wrapped them up so they dont make a mess but the doc does not look like the way it used to but still I dont have to buy a new dock and their are no new docks yet which support the new lightning connector yet.

On one end of the dockBoss+ cable is a female USB port, where you can connect your Lightning cable for charging and digital audio, and a female 1/8" (3.5mm) audio port for systems that use analog audio (audio patch cable included). On the other end of the dockBoss+ is a female 30-pin connector that attaches to your old iPod docking station or stereo system. Want to charge your new Lightning-enabled iDevice while listening to it on your favorite iPod audio system? dockBoss+ Kit is the solution.

Smarter sound uses both analogue and digital signals

Inside the dockBoss+ is a very smart set of electronics that help make sure your car, home, or portable system knows what to do to get charging and audio from your device through to your speakers. dockBoss+ speaks the language of all systems.

If your dock uses analog audio dockBoss+ uses audio connected through from the iPhone headphone jack to the 1/8" plug. If your speaker system accepts digital audio, dockBoss+ will get the digital signal through the Lightning connector* for crystal clear audio, no audio cable required.

Compatible with old and new power sources

dockBoss+ works with old and new accessories alike. The dockBoss+ electronics are powered by USB, but if you're docking station or cable is older and provides charging via Firewire, dockBoss+ has a built-in charge converter and will still power on without issue.

Provides added cable length for greater freedom of movement

The dockBoss+ measures at 2.5-feet long to extend the reach of your docking station or cable just a bit to give you flexibility in controlling your audio device.
