Running out of battery on your Xperia Z1 Compact? Our Power Jacket case can come to the rescue!
The Power Jacket provides an extra 3200mAh of battery power. With the internal 2300mAh battery, you’re looking at a massive 5500mAh of combined battery power. That’s a 2.4x improvement on the stock phone – a massive improvement that will radically transform your usage (and charging!) habits. Let’s see what that increase means in real-world terms.
GSM Arena rated the Z1 Compact’s battery for almost 21 hours of 3G talk time, almost 13 hours of web browsing, or 10 hours of video playback. With the Power Jacket case installed, those numbers get a massive boost. You’ll be able to talk for 49 hours, browse the web for 30 hours or watch a full 24 hours of video.
With so much battery power on tap, you’ll be free to keep your screen brightness up, turn GPS and Bluetooth on at all times, and start enjoying the things that make your smartphone smart – without the hassle of babying your battery.
Of course, the Power Jacket isn’t just a battery – it’s an Xperia Z1 Compact battery case. It does make the slim phone a little thicker, but it uses that bulk in a clever way: to protect your phone. The battery protects the rear of the phone from damage, while keeping the screen clear and easily accessible. The Power Jacket also adds a handy media stand, perfect for watching videos and playing games with all that newfound battery life.
The Power Jacket for the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact is available for pre-order now at Mobile Fun. To place your order or see additional information, check out the product page linked below.

We looked at some of the best cases for the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact earlier this week, and now we’re going to examine the other side of the coin: some recommended Z1 Compact accessories. We’ll have accessories for your car, for your desk and for life. Let’s get right into the recommendations.
5. Brodit Car Holder with Tilt Swivel – Active, Passive
These two Z1 Compact car holders do the critical job of keeping your Compact easily visible while you’re driving; essential for using GPS navigation. There are two models of the Brodit available; the Active includes an integrated car charger, while the Passive does not. Choose one or the other according to your requirements!
4. Magnetic Charging Cable – Black, White
This is a rather handy gadget, a charging cable that uses the magnetic charging port on the Xperia Z1 Compact. That means you can charge your Compact easily, without needing to peel back the waterproof flaps to reveal the regular microUSB charging port. The magnetic nature of the cable also means that it’ll pop out if it gets caught on anything instead of damaging the phone or flinging it off a desk.
3. Samsung 32 GB UHS-1 MicroSDHC Pro
The Z1 Compact comes with a microSD card slot, so you may as well make use of the extra storage potential! This Samsung microSD card will work well, thanks to its hefty 32 GB capacity and rapid UHS-1 Class 10 read and write speeds. You can also pick up a 64 GB card for a little extra, or a slower 32 GB card for a little less.
2. Case-Mate 2-Pack Screen Protector
A screen protector is one of the best protective accessories for your phone, providing good durability against scratches without adding any noticeable bulk. Case-Mate are a well-known name in the accessories game, so I’ve selected their screen protector here for the Z1 Compact. This particular item is a two pack, so you can split it with a friend or have a spare if and when your first screen protector gets damaged.
1. Sony Magnetic Charging Dock DK32
This magnetic charging dock is definitely the best accessory available for the Compact, providing convenient charging without the need to retract the phone’s plastic flaps. The dock also keeps the phone in a convenient upright landscape position, ideal for watching videos, playing games or keeping an eye on notifications. The dock is made by Sony themselves, and as such fits the phone in size and style perfectly.
I hope these recommendations have been useful. Be sure to leave your own in the comments below!

The first Sony Xperia Z1 Compact cases have arrived at Mobile Fun. Here are five of our early recommendations!
5. Flexishield Case for Sony Xperia Z1 Compact
The venerable Flexishield is our first recommendation. This cheap and cheerful case is one of the most affordable on the market, and comes in a wide range of colours so one is sure to suit you. The Flexishield is a simple but well-made case, providing good scratch protection and a little bit of drop protection as well. If you’re looking for a slimmer fit or increased protection, read on!
4. Roxflit Book Flip Case for Sony Xperia Z1 Compact
The Roxfit Book Flip is a folio-style case for the Z1 Compact, combining minimal impact protection with good scratch protection for the display glass. Each corner is covered, but the edges are left entirely accessible. Inside the suede-lined cover, you’ll find a credit card slot to hang onto critical pieces of paper or plastic. With embossed Xperia branding, you can show off your Z1 Compact while keeping its screen safe.
3. Flexiframe Sony Xperia Z1 Compact Bumper Case
The Flexiframe is another good option for showing off your choice of mobile, particularly if you’ve opted for a lime or pink Compact. The case is essentially a bumper, providing impact protection for the edges and corners without covering the front or back. Buttons, ports and other elements are also left entirely free, so you lose no functionality here. A nice middle-ground if you’re not concerned with scratches but you do fear your phone getting knocked around.
2. Pudini Flip and Stand Case for Sony Xperia Z1 Compact
This is a slightly more upscale version of the Roxfit Book Flip, offering a more unique blue or pink colour scheme and a pleasing textured finish. The case looks brilliant with each version of the Compact, but I particularly fancy the lime/blue combination. The case is practical too, with a cutout for the camera, a built-in media stand thanks to the folding flip cover and even a suction cup fastening.
1. Polycarbonate Shell Case for Sony Xperia Z1 Compact
This 100% clear case is the best possible showcase for cool Xperia Z1 Compact colours – it looks wicked on my lime version. The case offers good scratch protection through its complete chassis coverage, although you’ll likely want to add an Xperia Z1 Compact screen protector to ensure the screen is protected too. With this case you’ll have a slim and protected Xperia Z1 Compact package – so right now it’s our top pick!
Thanks for checking out these accessories! Be sure to let us know what you think of these recommendations and the phone itself in the comments below, on Twitter @mobilefun or on Facebook at Love Your Mobile. Have a good weekend!

The Xperia Z1 Compact is an awesome phone, now available from Mobile Fun. The Z1 Compact breaks the trend of ever-increasing Android screen sizes, delivering an eminently pocketable smartphone that includes the most powerful hardware on the market. In a phone not much bigger than the iPhone 5, you’ll get a powerful Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor, a 20 megapixel camera and a fully waterproof design.
The Z1 Compact is a triumph of Sony’s modern design too, with a single piece of milled aluminium used as the frame and coated in glass. The phone is a bit angular in your hand, but it looks good enough on a coffee table that I don’t mind. The frame, besides being dustproof and waterproof (at a depth of two metres for 30 minutes), also includes everything you’d need on a phone. That includes a microSD card slot for adding up to 64 GB of storage, a shutter key for that 20 megapixel camera and a dock connector for the various Z1 Compact accessories.
Inside, the Compact is just as impressive. It’s recorded some of the best benchmark scores of any phone, and that’s backed up with a very fluid feel in day-to-day use. The phone never seems to skip or lag, and animations and app launches remain buttery smooth. With 2 GB of RAM on tap, multi-tasking is also effortless.
The only real compromises that the Xperia Z1 Compact makes are quite sensible. Take the 720p display – that’s lower resolution and slightly less dense than the standard 5″ 1080p display that’s in vogue at the moment, but it means that the phone uses way less power when the display is active. That makes for battery life that can easy stretch into two days, even with moderate use. Thanks to Sony’s Stamina mode, you can extend this even further by silencing the phone’s wireless radios when the screen is off. It’s a clever design for sure.
The Z1 Compact is ordered on request in white and black, sim-free and unlocked. It’s a damn good phone, and I’m really happy with mine. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to ask them below – I’ll always answer where I can.

The Xperia Z1 Compact is coming soon… and we’ve got the accessories ready for it! Today we’re going to have a look at the many accessories that we’ve already got in stock for device, including cases and screen protectors. Let’s get right into it, shall we?
Case-Mate cases and screen protectors
Our first accessories come from veteran manufacturer Case-Mate. We’ve got three cases here: the Tough Case (in black), the Tough Naked Case (in clear/lime, clear/pink and clear) and the Barely There (in black and clear). These cases offer varying degrees of protection, but have a stylish build and slim design in common. For more information on these Case-Mate cases, check the product pages linked below or our earlier Xperia Z1 Compact article.
We’re also stocking an Xperia Z1 Compact screen protector two-pack, which will offer a nice way of protecting the screen – the most vulnerable part of the Z1 Compact – without adding any significant bulk to your phone.
Roxfit have also produced a line of cases for the Z1 Compact, and we’ve got five models coming soon: the Book Flip Case (in Nero Black, Carbon White and Carbon Black) and the Gel Shell Case (in Black/Clear and White/Clear). The Book Flip is a nice slim folio-style case with a thin synthetic cover and suede lining; inside you’ll find space for a credit card and the phone itself. The Gel Shell is a very thin case, with a transparent look, rubberised edges and a low price point.
Noreve leather covers
Our next group of cases come from Noreve and are made of the finest quality leather. There are three styles to choose from – the Tradition, Tradition B and Tradition D – each with a slim build and beautiful hand-crafted stitching. The B offers a built-in viewing stand, while the D is a horizontally opening case. All three are good choices for the fashion-conscious professional.
Muvit Bimat Back cases
Our final group of Z1 Compact shells are these Muvit Bimat Back cases. The cases are a cool blend of style and protection, with a strong silicone bumper offered in pink, yellow, white or black paired with a clear ABS back. Expect good shock absorption at a reasonable price.
I hope you’ve found this accessory breakdown helpful! Be sure to let me know if you have questions about these cases, and I hope you’re as excited as I am about the release of this phone!
