With mobile phones being used for Internet and Email, as well as replacing our MP3 players and Sat Nav units, there is nothing worse than being out and about and running out of power. A Car Charger is the simple solution to this problem, but with Nokia changing the connections on their phones and introducing new style chargers with different sized charging pins, getting the right one can be a bit tricky.
To help you work out which is the best car charger for you, we’ve been through the entire range of Nokia Car Chargers and listed the differences between them below.
Original Nokia Car Chargers
The first mainstream Nokia Car Charger had a fairly large 3.5mm connection, and was compatible with early Nokia handsets such as the 6230i, 5110, 7110 etc.
Nokia LCH-12 Car Charger – This car charger is the only car charger available for early Nokia handset. It features an LED indictator to show when it’s charging, and will automatically stop charging when your battery is full. The LCH-12 Car Charger will work in Cars, Vans and Trucks (12v & 24v).
Nokia 2mm Small Pin Car Chargers
A few years ago, Nokia decided to change the charging port to a smaller 2mm ‘Small Pin’ Charger. You convert your older 3.5mm Nokia charger into the newer small pin charger using a CA-44 Charging adapter.
Unlike the Mains Chargers, Nokia only produce two Car Chargers for their handsets with the 2mm Charging connection. The DC-4 and the DC-9.
Nokia DC-4 Car Charger – The DC-4 Car Charger is the most popular Nokia Car charger. It features a tangle proof cable, LED indicator and as with the LCH-12, it will stop charging your phone once the battery is full. The DC-4 Car Charger will work in Cars, Vans and Trucks (12v & 24v)
Nokia DC-9 Car Charger – The DC-9 has a retractable cable that you can pull out to the size you need. The Spin Lock system keeps the cable at the correct length. To retract the cable simply press the top of the charger. As with the DC-4, the DC-9 stops charging your phone once the battery is full.
Nokia Micro USB Car Chargers
Earlier this year, several of the leading handset manufacturers announced that they were going to make Micro USB chargers standard across all mobile phones by 2012. While we may still be a way off, Nokia have now started to include this charging connection on some of their newer handsets. You can also use a CA-146C Charging adapter to convert your older 3.5mm Nokia charger or 2mm Nokia Charger into the newer small pin charger. There are 2 Nokia Micro USB Car Chargers available, the DC-6 and the DC-10.
Nokia DC-6 Car Charger – The DC-6 Charger is a lightweight, portable car charger that will work with most Micro USB devices. It has a tangle proof cable and LED indicator to show when the phone is being charged. The DC-6 stops charging your phone when the battery is full.
