Recycle your old Nokia Charger

Thursday, July 16th, 2009

Do you have a drawer full of old Nokia Chargers at home that you don’t use anymore, but haven’t got round to throwing away?  You’d be right for thinking that current phones no longer use the old 3.5mm charging connection, so what do you do with them?  Throwing them away seems like a waste, and you’ve probably got other devices in the house with broken or missing chargers. Wouldn’t it be great if you could put these old Nokia chargers to good use and use them with other devices?

Well, the fantastic news is, you can!

We’ve just refreshed our range of charger adapters that will allow you to use your old Nokia Mains Charger with almost any other mobile phone or handheld device.
The way they work is simple, just attach the adapter to the end of your Nokia Charger and connect it to your phone, It couldn’t be easier.

The Nokia to Mini USB Charger adapter is probably the most useful charging adapter as this will work with any device that charges using a Mini USB connection.  Devices range from mobile phones, to camera’s to bluetooth headsets to digital photo frames.

Micro USB is the newest charger type, but from next year this will be the standard charging connection for all mobile phones.  The Nokia to Micro USB Charger adapter will allow you to use your old Nokia charger with future handsets. There are also a growing number of other accessories that use Micro USB charging and I recently compiled a list of the best Micro USB Bluetooth Headsets.

What about other types of charger?

We also offer a range of Mini USB Charging tips that will allow you to charge devices by leading manufacturers using a standard Mini USB Charger or Data Cable.

How to Recycle your old Mobile Phones

Friday, June 26th, 2009

Mobile phones are almost a throw away item these days, with most of us upgrading our handsets every 12-18 months, if not sooner.  If you’re like me, chances are you don’t want to let your old phone go, and hang on to it “just in case” you ever need a spare.

In reality though, your old handset that used to be your pride and joy is probably still sitting at the back of a drawer gathering dust and is never likely to make a call or send a text ever again.  If you do ever dig it out, chances are you’ll go to do something on it that it can’t do and just throw it back in the drawer.

Well, here’s another thing you can do with it – Recycle it!  Not only is recycling your handset better for the environment, but it can also be good on your pocket to, as you can actually get cash back when you send your old phone in for recycling.

Mobile phones should never be thrown in your normal household rubbish as the components in them take such a long time to break down, but knowing where to send them can be a bit tricky.  For that reason, Mobile Fun are proud to announce that we have just launced a Mobile Phone Recycling Service.  It’s completely free and is as easy as filling in a form and posting your phone to us – not only that, it pays you to do it!

To give you an idea on the money that you could get back, here’s a few examples of the cash back available on some of the popular phones that might be heading towards retirement.
