It’s all been very exciting this week in the Mobile Fun office as we’ve had the team from C5’s Gadget Show filming in our warehouse! Here’s a pic of the lovely Ortis & Suzy in the building:
Aside from hobnobbing, it’s been business as usual. Here are some kernels of news for you:
When the Parrot AR.Drone RC Quadricopter was released it was exclusive to HMV, but that’s no longer the case and we’ve got our hands on this brilliant iOS-controlled quadricopter. The gadget can be controlled using iPhone, iPod or iPad and used indoors or outdoors. It also features two onboard cameras so that you can get a birds-eye view, onboard WiFi technology & augmented reality games available from the App store. See the press release.

We’ve now got in the KeyCase Faux Leather Case for Samsung Galaxy Tab, a sturdy polyurethane case with a built-in physical QWERTY keyboard. The KeyCase for iPad was a great hit, generating massive sales, so getting in the Galaxy Tab version was a no-brainer really – we just hope it proves as popular! Press release here.
We also have what we believe to be the first solar iPad case available in the UK (let me know if you know differently!), which might seem a little ambitious at this time of year, but the snowdrops have started poking their heads up so it can’t be too long until Spring’s here and the sun comes out! Unti then, this leather iPad charging case can provide your iPad with an some extra OOMPH on the go (6600mAh, to be precise) and approximately double your surfing time.
For HTC Desire HD & Desire Z users (like meee!), here’s a way to stream media wirelessly to your computer screen or HDMI-ready telly with the HTC Media Link DLNA Adaptor. You can read the full press release here.
And over at our sister site, GearZap:
We’ve got the largest variety of Gelaskins available in the UK, and we’ve just added to it with a new range of PS3 Gelaskins imported from the US. They’re great quality, and let you customise your devices to really let your personality shine through. I’m a big fan of the Exploding Dog designs (one of my favourite webcomics!)

If you’re looking for something fun for the Kindle then we’ve some great Kindle sleeves available from Built – just something a bit more interesting than your standard black or brown case! See the range from them here.
If you’re a journalist with enquiries about these or any other stories, please feel free to get in touch with me.
Until next week,
MF Nat

Gel Skins are fast becoming the most popular style of phone case available. They’re relatively inexpensive, can withstand more than a traditional leather case and are perfectly suited to larger, touch screen smartphones.
There are a number of different styles of Gel Skin available – everything from softer, flexible phone covers, through to adhesive skins that protect against scratches.
Here are a few of our most popular types of Gel Skin:
FlexiShield Skins
FlexiShields are our best selling gel skin. They’re made from a tough, flexible gel that covers the back and sides of your phone, leaving the screen (and any keyboards) fully accessible. They’re much stronger than a silicone case and far tougher than a crystal case.

FlexiShield Skin for HTC Desire HD
If you also want protection for the screen, then you’ll need the FlexiShield Plus as these also include a screen protector.
Case Mate Covers
Case Mate produce a range of covers – everything from hard polycarbonate through to soft and flexible Gel Skins. Their most popular case is currently the Barely There hard cover, but their new range of Case Mate Gelli skins are catching up fast.

Case Mate Gelli for Galaxy Tab
The Case Mate Gelli is made from a similar material to the FlexiShields, but comes in a range of bright and attractive colours. Gelli covers are available for a range of phones, including iPhone 4, HTC Desire and the Nokia N8, as well as the iPad and Galaxy Tab.
GelaSkins
Although the name suggests that these are a Gel Skin, they’re not quite. They’re actually a vinyl sticker that covers your phone and protects it against scratches and scuffs rather than knocks and drops. They add very little to your phone in the way of bulk as they’re exceptionally thin – so thin that you can actually use them in conjunction with most other mobile phone cases!

Gelaskins
GelaSkins come in a variety of designs and are available for phones, MP3 players, netbooks and iPads.

Keeping your phone free from scratches can be quite challenging. Just placing it on your desk can be enough for small scratches for form on the back cover.
You can invest in a mobile phone case to keep it safe but these can add extra bulk to your phone. There is another option – Skins. These are thin plastic films that stick onto your phone and protect it against minor knocks and scrapes.
The most popular skin is the InvisibleSHIELD by Zagg, these are clear thin films that cover your phone and protect it against damage. As they’re clear, your phone retains it’s original look.
If you fancy something a bit brighter, or want to put your own stamp on your phone then take a look at Gelaskins or ZEOdigi phone skins

Gelaskins for iPhone
Gelaskins were one of the first range of skins to be launched last year and were featured on their own blog post back in November. Gelaskins are available in a wide range of designs for the iPhone 3G and 3GS.

ZEOdigi phone skins
ZEOdigi Skins are a similar concept – a thin, tough plastic film that covers the back of your phone but they also include a screen protector to keep the front of your phone looking like new.
ZEOdigi skins are available for a number of handsets including the iPhone, HTC HD2, Nexus One, HTC Hero, Sony Ericsson Satio and Nokia N97. For further details head over to the Zeodigi skins page.

With so many people now having the iPhone they no longer stand out as much as they used to. To make your iPhone a little bit different, there are a number of iPhone cases and iPhone covers that you can get to brighten the phone up, but if you don’t want the extra bulk that is normally associated with a case?
The answer – GelaSkins.
What are GelaSkins?
GelaSkins are very thin protective covers that are made specifically for your iPhone. They are made from a strong vinyl that can be removed from your phone without leaving any messy residue behind and are currently for the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS.

Gelaskins for iPhone
The artwork for the GelaSkins comes from over 100 artists including contemporary designs by Keith Haring and Nanami Cowdroy as well as some of the more traditional works by Van Gogh and Monet. As well as making your iPhone look good, GelaSkins protect your phone. They cover all of the back of your phone and will stop it from getting scuffed and scratched during everyday use. (more…)
