Turn your friends green with envy with the new ecoskin iPhone 4 covers

Friday, May 6th, 2011

We love the new Ecoskins by Anokimobi that we’ve just ordered in, which are a range of top quality smartphone covers made of eco-friendly recycled plastic and infused with special bacteria-resistant silver ions to keep your phone cleaner and safer.

The Ecoskin is available as an iPhone 4 skin, Nokia N8 skin or HTC Desire HD cover, protects your phone from scratches and bumps and comes in a great range of colours.

Here are three reasons why we’re excited about them:

They’re antibacterial
protecting you from all those bugs and germs that can make you ill.  Mobile phones are a breeding ground for bacteria – just think about everything you handle over the course of the day getting passed on to your phone.  Not only that, but phones often get handed around between people – to share a photo, for example, or to point out something interesting you’ve found on the internet.  So it’s not just the things you’ve touched that are getting all over your phone – it’s the things everyone else who touches your phone has touched, too!

According to a study by Which Magazine taken from a sample of phones, 14.7 million of the 63 million mobiles in the UK today could be potentially harmful to health due to bacterium levels on them.  Not to mention that… well, it’s just kind of gross!

So to protect against germs, Anokimob have added Biomaster to the material of the ecoskin.  Biomaster is a silver-based additive which is used for many medical devices, and is proven to decrease levels of bacteria by up to 99.9% – making it the perfect ingredient to help you keep your phone germ-free.

They’re eco-friendly
and made from 100% recycled, 100% recyclable high grade plastic.  Not only that, but the cardboard packaging is 95% recycled and the plastic tray frontage is 80% recycled.  Every effort has been made to make both the case and the packaging as environmentally friendly as possible – so that’s something to feel good about!

They’re made in the UK
by the same people who make components for Aston Martin, which means the fit of the case is superb, clinging to your phone’s every curve.  And because we don’t need to import them from a far off land, as with most mobile phone accessories, your carbon footprint is reduced.

Though Ecoskins cover most of your phone, there are cutouts to allow it to be charged whilst still in the case, and to allow access to all buttons and functions.  As Ecoskins do not protect the screen, you may wish to pair it with an antibacterial iPhone 4, Nokia N8 or HTC Desire HD screen protector to ensure full protection.

SIM free Samsung Galaxy S2 in stock from today

    Thursday, May 5th, 2011

The very gorgeous SIM free Samsung Galaxy S2 – or the Samsung i9100 Galaxy S II, if you prefer to give it its slightly lengthier title, though I’m not sure why you would – flew onto our shelves yesterday, and has almost as rapidly started flying straight off them again.

The Galaxy S2 is one of the first smartphones to feature a powerful dual-core processor (others current and upcoming include the LG Optimus 2X and the Motorola Atrix), something which looks set to become the standard for modern smartphones.  It also boasts next-gen Bluetooth 3.0, Android 2.3 Gingerbread and NFC technology for contactless payments.  On the visual side, the Galaxy S2 has an 8MP camera with 1080p HD video recording capabilities, a separate 1.3MP front-facing camera for video-calling and a massive 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus screen to show your photos and media off on.

iPhone 5 to ship in September

Last week we heard via Reuters that Apple are planning to launch a new iPhone in September, although there’s some debate across the internet as to whether this is going to be a small update (something like an iPhone 4GS) or a full-on iPhone 5.  Gizmodo reckon the latter, mostly because of the late release of the white iPhone 4.

Finally an iPhone 4 dock you can use with the bumper

Speaking of the iPhone 4 – we’ve got an iPhone 4 dock in that you can use without having to go through all the rigmarole of removing your iPhone 4 bumper or case beforehand.  Aces!  No more faffing around, and it works with even the biggest and bulkiest cases.  It’s called the CaseBuddy Case Compatible Dock (try saying that fast…).

    Best ever iPhone 4 case

It’s not cheap, but it is absolutely gorgeous.  I’m talking about the ElementCASE Vapor PRO Black Ops Edition for iPhone 4.  Aircraft grade aluminium, black ultrasuede backing, aerospace polymer RF insert to prevent signal loss.  Now I’m not 100% what ultrasuede is, but it sounds cool – although probably everything sounds cool if you put “ultra” on the front of it! I might start calling myself ultra-Nat. Here it is:

Smart Cover Compatible Cases for iPad 2

We noticed that it’s often quite difficult online to work out which iPad 2 cases are compatible with the Smart Cover, and which aren’t, so we’ve done a bit of threshing over at the Mobile Fun website and separated the wheat from the chaff.  You can now see all of the iPad 2 Smart Cover Compatible Cases together on one page, which makes it much easier to find what you want. Easy!

    iPad 2 Keyboard Case

Speaking of iPad 2 covers, we’ve just got the KeyCase iPad 2 Folio Deluxe with Bluetooth Keyboard into stock.  This gives you a physical iPad 2 keyboard to work with when using the tablet, as well as being stylishly made from prime leather.  It was a massive seller for the iPad so we’re expecting big things from the iPad 2 version too.

And we’ve got the Power Support iPad 2 Crystal Clear and Power Support Anti-Glare for iPad 2 in – the very best iPad 2 screen protectors available on the market.

    Samsung Galaxy S Dock

Yes, I know that it’s all about the S2 now and the S is old news.  But we’ve been trying to source this Samsung Desktop Dock for Samsung Galaxy S for months, and it’s taken ages to get our hands on.   Now that it’s here its been worth the wait.  And because it’s an officially branded Samsung Galaxy S dock you know it’ll work perfectly with the handset.

Motorola Xoom accessories and Nokia E7 accessories are now in stock too, with the ranges being added to all the time.

Motorola XOOM cases available now – grab them quick!

    Wednesday, April 27th, 2011

The tablet market has really exploded this year, with a huge range of fantastic devices all jostling for attention.  And the Motorola Xoom is certainly worth more than a second glance; with its dual-core technology, it’s one of those paving the way towards a new generation of tablet devices.

The Motorola Xoom is one of the most exciting tablets to be launched so far this year, with impressive performance and innovative new features. The stylish, slimline design makes the Motorola Xoom a visually stunning tablet, so picking the right Motorola Xoom Case to match it is vital.

We’re adding to the Motorola Xoom accessories range all the time so there are loads of cases on their wa (including, perhaps most excitingly, the Otterbox Motorola Xoom Defender case), but here’s our run-down of what’s already available over on the main site at the moment:

    Motorola XOOM Folio Case

    Official Motorola XOOM Folio Case

For some people, only the real McCoy will do, and this official branded Motorola product is certainly fantastic quality.  Made from a hard-wearing material and designed especially with the Xoom in mind, the Folio Case wraps closely around your tablet to protect it from bumps whilst keeping all features easily accessible.  It also features a built-in Xoom stand which allows you to prop your tablet up at two different angles – great for watching videos

SD Tabletwear Stand and Type Motorola XOOM case

SD TabletWear Stand And Type Motorola XOOM Case – Black

A similar sort of thing here from SD, who also make a similar TabletWear iPad 2 cover which has been proving hugely popular since the launch of Apple’s latest device.  These SD cases are loved for their hardwearing leather-effect material, as well as their built-in stand which gives you different angles for easy typing and video viewing.  It’s a great lower cost option to the official Folio case, and will keep your Xoom protected wherever you are.  It’s also available in a range of colours (black, brown, red, purple).

    Flexishield Motorola XOOM

    FlexiShield Motorola XOOM – Black

FlexiShield are one of our favourite manufacturers, giving you a crystal-case-like protection but with the durability of silicone.  That means that your device is protected from bumps and scrapes, whilst the rubberised gel skin provides flexibility and extra grip.  And the bonus with clingier, more skin-like cases like this is that they barely add any extra bulk or weight to interfere with usability.

Huge range of iPad 2 Smart Cover compatible cases

    Thursday, April 21st, 2011

When launching the iPad 2, Steve Jobs put the iPad 2 Smart Cover forward as an elegant solution to the status quo – which is to take something utterly gorgeous (in this case, your iPad) and then swaddle it up in so much protection that you can’t see it anymore.  On the other hand, the Smart Cover leaves much of the device visible, whilst adding very little bulk to the tablet.

But there was a reason that people were so keen to protect their iPads: there’s not much point in having something gorgeous if you’re going to let it get bumped around and damaged.  That means that there’s one obvious downside to Steve Jobs’ no-so-Smart-Cover: it only protects the front of your iPad, leaving the back exposed to all the scratches and scrapes that daily life can hurl at it.  And that’s a pretty big downside, all things considered.

For those who do want fuller protection, manufacturers got straight on the job creating back covers for the iPad 2 that are compatible with iPad 2 Smart Covers.

Since it can often be difficult to tell at first glance which cases are and aren’t compatible, we’ve grouped them all together on the main site on one handy iPad 2 Smart Cover Compatible Cases page.

Here’s a look at a couple of my favourites:

Cool Bananas SmartShell for iPad 2 - Red

Cool Bananas SmartShell for iPad 2

These gorgeous shells are available in a range of colours (black, blue, red, green, clear) and are made from a hard-wearing TPU material that will protect the bits of your iPad that the Smart Cover doesn’t reach.  The SmartShells has cutouts for all ports and features, as well as a specifically-designed gap for the magnets in the Smart Cover to attach to – so it won’t interfere with the cool magnetic sleep sensors in the tablet itself.

Easiskins Custom Skin for iPad 2 - Red

Easiskins Custom Skin for iPad 2

I also really like this iPad 2 skin from Easiskins, which comes in an even wider variety of colours (carbon black, matt black, blue, green, red, orange, grey and pink) which are perfectly matched to complement the Smart Cover seamlessly.  Like the SmartShell, the CustomSkin is precision cut to perfectly fit the iPad 2 and work in conjunction with the Smart Cover.  It also has 3M air channel backing which allows any trapped air to pass through the material, making installation a doddle and giving you a bubble-free finish.  As a bonus for brand-fans, the CustomSkin also proudly displays the Apple logo.
