Keep charged in the car

Wednesday, February 1st, 2012

If you travel in your car a lot or frequently use your phone throughout the day, then you need a car charger so that you never run out of juice.  There’s plenty of car chargers out there to chose from, whether it’s a fancy dock and charger or one of the simple USB car chargers available.  I’ve taken a closer look at three of our most popular car chargers available:

Navigon iPhone 4S / 4 Car Holder with Charger

Navigon iPhone 4/4S Car Holder and Charger

I actually own a Navigon as my iPhone 4S car charger and what I personally like about it is its curved style.  It looks a lot more stylish than other car charger and dock combos, but does the job just as well.

This car holder can be stuck to your windscreen at the angle to suit you with the simple suction cup.  Therefore you can position it in a place on your windscreen which is not only safe but also comfortable to use.

When using the Navigon you can angle it so that your phone is in either a portrait or landscape view, which is great for when using the maps feature of your iPhone, or for plugging in phone chargers, FM transmitters and other accessories.

Using an accessory like the Navigon you still have all the features of your phone available but your phone is docked safely and securely whilst doing so.

The included car charger is a simple USB charger meaning you can use your own cable and it’s compatible with both cars and trucks.

USB Car Charger Adapter

USB Car Charger Adapter

The USB car charger adapter is in my eyes a staple accessory for any car.

Cheap and cheerful, this USB plug slots into the cigarette lighter and will charge any accessory via USB.  This means not only can you charge your phone, but you could charge a Kindle, hand held gaming system like the DS and even tablets.

This means that if you’re on a long journey, you can keep your passengers occupied without the fear of batteries running out and calls of ‘Are we there yet?’

Compatible with any USB cable, this charger can be used on its own or with a dock, making it multi-functional and essential.  The plug can hide away in your glove box when not in use but you’ll be glad it’s there when you run out of juice!

Genuine Samsung Galaxy S2 i9100 Vehicle Dock

Genuine Samsung Galaxy S2 Vehicle Dock

The last dock and car charger on my list is the Genuine Samsung Galaxy S2 Vehicle Dock.  In a similar way to the Navigon it docks and charges your phone, so it’s a great Samsung Galaxy S2 car charger.

Being an official product, the perfect fit and compatibility is assured with this vehicle dock.  It clips your phone in place safely and securely ensuring that it won’t fall out if you take a corner too hard.

Like the Navigon it can be attached to your windscreen by a simple suction cup, meaning you can dock your phone safely and legally, at the most comfortable angle for you.  To add even more comfort you can view your phone in portrait or landscape, so again it’s great for SatNav apps.

The USB charger fits nicely into the phone and like all Samsung chargers keeps your phone fully juiced whilst you’re on the go.

Sleek and sophisticated, this is a great vehicle dock and charger for all S2 owners.

So that’s my top three; whether you agree or disagree let me know through the usual channels :)

Our Best Kindle Lighted Leather Cover

Monday, January 30th, 2012

If you’re looking for our best Kindle lighted leather cover, then look no further: The Luminous Case with Light for Amazon Kindle is the answer. Available in four colours, this hardy vegan leather Kindle cover includes everything you need for reading your Kindle in any amount of light.

The included light attaches securely to a built-in magnet, allowing perfect positioning and a steady stream of photons. The battery-powered light is kept inside the case when not in use, making it very easy to ensure the whole kit is kept together.

The vinyl case is ideal for protecting the Kindle, and looks quite fancy as well. There’s a soft microfibre lining to protect the Kindle’s screen, somewhat obviating the need for a dedicated screen protector. The slide-in pocket ensures that the Kindle remains in position at all times. This is one of the nicest vegan leather Kindle cases we stock, proving that you don’t have to sacrifice quality to be environmentally friendly.

Moving outside the cover, you’ll see a detachable wrist strap that allows for easy reading on the go. You’ll also note that with the cutouts present in the case, you can charge your Kindle whilst keeping it fully protected.

Three 3GS cases

Monday, January 30th, 2012

The 3GS still remains popular as it’s great for those who want an iPhone without the higher price tag.  It’s got a great curved style meaning there’s a wide, original variety of cases for the 3GS – here’s three of my favourite:

Otterbox Defender Series

Otterbox Defender Series

The Otterbox Defender Series is one of the most protective iPhone 3GS cases available.

Offering three layers of protection the Defender is a great case for those who work outdoors or spend a lot of times outdoors because no matter how many times you drop your phone, the Otterbox will stop it being damaged.

The first layer of this Otterbox case is a clear membrane which acts as a screen protector for the display of your 3GS.  The back and sides of our 3GS are then protected by layer two: a hi-impact polycarbonate skeleton.  This protects from bumps and drops with the help of the third and final layer; a silicon skin, which also helps to absorb shocks.

What makes Otterbox cases extra special is that the ports of your phone are protected by silicone plug; this means that they’re always protected but they’re easy to get to when you need them.

This Otterbox case also comes complete with a ClipStand holster so it’s easy to carry around on your bag or belt buckle.

InvisibleSHIELD Full Body Protector

InvisibleSHIELD Full Body Protector

The second 3GS case is great for those who want scratch protection without taking away from the style of the handset itself – it’s the InvisibleSHIELD Full Body protector.

What’s great about InvsibleSHIELD products is that the Full Body protectors are specially made for each handset to provide the perfect fit and best scratch protection possible.

The film used by InvisibleSHIELD has its origins in the US Military where it was used to protect the edges of helicopter blades from wear and tear.  Therefore you know it’s of the highest quality and provides better scratch protection than any of the other iPhone 3GS accessories available.

Using a Full Body protector means you can still access all the ports and features of your 3GS, so it remains fully functioning all the time. The film is simple and easy to apply and remove; plus you can also use a 3GS cover with the full body protector for ultimate protection and added individuality.

Case-Mate ID Case

Case Mate ID Case

The final case in my favourite three comes from accessory giants Case Mate.  The ID case is a sleek yet multi-functional case which allows you to carry around 2 cards with you.  This is great for if you’re just popping to the shops as it saves you having to take a bag.

Only 2.5mm thicker than Case Mate’s Barely There case, the ID case has style at its heart as well as functionality, making it one of the best cases for iPhone.

Made to fit your 3GS snugly, the ID case has all the cut-outs needed for the ports and features of your phone.  Therefore it remains fully functional at all times and has that little extra function thanks to the card holder.

However, if you have got cards in the holder, the camera will be covered so you’ll have to remove them to use the camera.  That’s a small price to pay for the extra functionality of a case though.

So that’s my top three. Did I miss any cases out?  Let me know in the comments or via the usual channels what would be your top 3!

Samsung Galaxy S2 Pink

Looking for a rather brilliant gift for your gadget-crazed significant other for Valentine’s Day?

The pink Samsung Galaxy S2 will be arriving sim-free at Mobile Fun just in time for Valentine’s Day, on February 13th.

The Samsung Galaxy S2 is still one of the best Android phones available, capable of handling any Android app on the market. In some ways, it’s an even sweeter deal now than it’s ever been, as it’s come down in price since its introduction last year. It’s a real looker too, particularly in pink, with a svelte frame and gorgeous 4.3″ screen. With the introduction of Ice Cream Sandwich by June this year, you’ll have an impressively competitive phone at a very nice price.

Otterbox Cases For Samsung Galaxy Nexus Available First From Mobile Fun

Monday, January 23rd, 2012

Here at Mobile Fun, we’re happy to announce that some of our best-selling and most highly rated Otterbox cases are finally available for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. The Otterbox Commuter and Otterbox Defender are extremely well regarded by customers and critics alike, and are available first from Mobile Fun.

Let’s have a look at the Galaxy Nexus Otterbox Commuter first. This Samsung Galaxy Nexus cover offers an excellent blend of staunch protection and a slim design, offering the best of both worlds.

OtterBox for Samsung Galaxy Nexus Commuter Series

The protection includes a three layer system. First, there’s an inner silicone layer that dampens shocks from accidental drops or bumps. This is encased in a tougher polycarbonate shell, which prevents scrapes and scratches as well as providing extra rigidity and a good grip. The final layer is a self-adhesive screen protector, which prevents scratches to the screen.

The Otterbox Commuter also has a number of handy extra features. There are silicone plugs for the audio jack and USB port, protecting from dust and grime. The corners of the case are exposed silicone, to allow for better shock absorbance. Finally, all of the phone’s ports and features are left open to allow full use, including the camera.

All in all, it’s one the nicest slim Samsung Galaxy Nexus covers available, combining good protection with a very light design.

Next, we’ll look at the Commuter’s bigger brother, the Galaxy Nexus Otterbox Defender.

OtterBox For Samsung Galaxy Nexus Defender Series

This is an up-armoured variant of the Otterbox Commuter, which trades a little extra bulk for heavy-weight protection.

The Defender also uses a three layer design, albeit in a different order to the defender. Here, the inner core is the polycarbonate shell, which enhances rigidity. The outer layer is even thicker silicone, offering significant drop protection, in addition to its normal anti-scratch and anti-scrape properties. Finally, the Defender covers the Galaxy Nexus’ screen with a thermal-formed sheet, which provides unparalleled protection against scratches.

The Defender is certainly the top choice if you’re looking for the best possible protection for your Galaxy Nexus, although it can be a bit bulkier than other Samsung Galaxy Nexus cases in some situations.

So which Otterbox case will be your Samsung Galaxy Nexus case of choice? Let us know in the comments below!.
