The OneCable…. the only cable you’ll ever need

Thursday, April 12th, 2012

The OneCable Sync and Charge Cable is the answer to all our cable woes.  Personally I’m fed up of having different cables for each gadget and constantly having to switch cables.  In my car alone I have a cable for my iPhone, cable for my Kindle and cable for my boyfriend’s phone – now I can get rid of all those cables and replace them with one – the OneCable.

OneCable

What the OneCable offers is the ability to charge a number of different gadgets as the cable has three different connectors: Apple, MicroUSB and MiniUSB.  This means that now you don’t have to carry a number of wires, simply choose the connector you need and start charging… simples!

I’ve been using the OneCable for a few days now to get a feel of how useful it is ‘in the real world’.  I’ve mainly been using it as my iPhone 4s car charger and switching the connector to charge my boyfriend’s phone too.  However where the one cable really shone is when we visited the Safari Park – the cable allowed us to charge up the camera whilst using it to take photos, so the camera never ran out of battery.  Plus the long retractable wire meant we had the length to take shots out of both the driver side and passenger windows, with the charger still being connected.

Using the OneCable has banished the need to faff around trying to find a cable, I carry it in my bag (along with the kitchen sink) and it’s there whenever I or my boyfriend, or my mum, or whoever needs to charge their phone.

One really useful thing I’ve found is that the OneCable fits into the bottom of my FM Transmitter so I still get to play music from my iPhone and charge it at the same time.  Even better, the length of the cable reaches my mobile holder, so I can dock my phone and charge it too.

An area where the OneCable can really show off is when going on holiday; instead of packing a number of chargers and socket converters, all you need is one socket converter, one plug and the OneCable – all phones are counted for and most of your gadgets too.  This means you save crucial suitcase space and don’t have to worry about forgetting one of your many wires when returning home.

Having used it I’m a big fan of the OneCable and have found it to be rather useful but what do you think on it?  Let us know through the usual channels!

50 Cent, scooters and a whole bunch of phone accessories…. What I saw at the Gadget Show Live

Thursday, April 12th, 2012

On Tuesday I spent the day at the Gadget Show Live at the NEC, looking at the new wares and accessories available and playing on scooters and ziplines (all for work purposes I promise!).

If you’ve never been to Gadget Show Live, the basically it takes place over 5 days within several enormous halls at the NEC, all stuffed with everything us gadget and gaming geeks could ever want.  There’s also a dedicated Gaming Zone, giving you sneak-peaks at the latest and upcoming games – I had a little bash on Kinect Star Wars, so I’m a fully fledged Jedi now…

The show had a great vibe to it with lots of people swarming around trying out the latest gadgets and attempting to get a bargain or two from the retailers.  There were plenty of things to see and do and even a zipline to go down, toy scooters to play with and a majority of remote control cars to try out.

Mr 50 Cent showed up at the event to promote his new range of SMS Audio headphones which are said to be a rival to the Beats headphones which we currently sell.  50 talked about his headphone range before talking part in a Q and A session about the headphones which claim to offer lossless audio, made from the highest quality materials.  I really liked the cobalt blue accents on the headphones and the sleek style, plus when I got the chance to hear the sound quality from a pair, they really did live up to my expectations.  I think they’ll definitely be a fierce rival to the Beats headphones.

There were a lot of cute accessories around and more sparkly phone cases than you can shake a stick at.  One accessory I really liked was the CozyBot, a cute little Android Robot inspired desk stand.

It goes great with Andi, our Android Robot Speaker and is universal, holding all phone styles either portrait or landscape.  What’s clever about the CozyBot though is that you can run your charging cable through the back of it, no matter how bulky the adaptor is.  I’ve been using it on my desk for the last couple of days and I think it looks pretty cute.

Another quirky accessory I found came from Stick Ems… Now a Stick Em is a cool micro-fibre cleaning cloth which simply sticks on the back or screen of your gadget ready for use whenever you need to get rid of those annoying fingerprints or marks from your display.

The Stick Ems team had a number of designs to choose from; whether you’re a fan of the Keep Calm trend or want to add a splash of animal magic to your handset.  The Stick Ems are cool and quirky, but most importantly they do the job and help keep your screen looking all sparkly and new.

It was great to see some brands we already sell at the Gadget Show Live, like the LifeProof iPhone range of highly protective cases, which don’t add bulk and the Soul by Ludacris headphones – they had a DJ on their stand, whilst a couple of other brands had street dancers throwing some shapes to tunes blasting through their speakers.

If you’re off to the Gadget Show Live this week let us know and tell us what you thought of it!  I really enjoyed myself and eyed up a few new gadgets and bits and bobs I want… What accessories really stood out to you?  Let us know through the usual channels.

Three iPad 3 cases I’m excited about…

Thursday, April 5th, 2012

We’ve always got new iPad 3 accessories coming into stock here at Mobile Fun HQ: whether it’s a sleek new dock, battery extenders or speakers so you can listen to your music; but the one thing that always gets me excited is new iPad 3 cases.

To me an iPad 3 case is like an item of clothing for your iPad, so you want it to look good and match the environment you’re in. So with this in mind here’s the three iPad 3 cases which I’m looking forward to being released in the future:

Belkin Folio Case with Storage

Belkin Folio Case with Storage

I’m a girly girl so I’ll admit that I love pink and that’s one of teh reasons why I like this case.

I think it’s fair to say that quite often iPad 3 case styles can be seen to be dull and boring and aimed mainly at use in the office – so they’re professional and not likely to turn any heads.

Personally I like to add a splash of colour to my gadgets so this Belkin case is perfect.  Not only that but it also has a different texture to most other iPad covers, being softer (as it’s padded) which to me adds a touch of femininity to the cover.

Looks aside, this case is really useful – it protects all of your iPad from day to day damage, but when you’re using your iPad the front cover turns into a stand.  This means you can watch movies at a more comfortable angle than before, display your iPad in style and if you have to do some work on your iPad too….

Another clever feature of this case is that it has a secret internal storage compartment so you can store important documents or train tickets so you don’t have to rummage around for them. The case is protective and durable, so it’ll keep your iPad looking newer for longer.

Cygnett Lavish Connect Case

Cygnett Lavish Connect Case with Stand and Keyboard

The second case I’m excited about is the Cygnett Lavish Connect Case with Stand and Bluetooth Keyboard (but of a mouthful there).  This case is perfect for the office and business use.

It’s professional and highly stylish, so will suit any business environment and impress others with it’s high work functionality.  This comes from the included bluetooth keyboard which will help increase productivity and accuracy, so you can get work completed quicker.

The Connect Case itself is highly protective and stylish, protecting the screen of your iPad when it’s not in use and housing a secret little stand too which allows you to use your iPad at a number of angles.  Therefore you can work at the perfect angle for typing as well as the best angle for streaming media.

Magnets hold your iPad in place during transit, so you know it’s protected and won’t move, so it’s the perfect companion for long journies as well as work.

This iPad 3 cover is impressive and aims to impress your colleagues, from it’s timeless style to it’s functionality.  I’m a fan.

Gear 4 iPad 3 Angry Birds Executive Cover With Stand

Gear4 Angry Birds Executive Cover with Stand

This case I like to call the sneaky case – from afar it looks highly professional and serious, but when you look a little closer you can see the little Angry Birds Red Bird printed in the corner of the case, adding that sprinkling of character to the case.

I feel that this cover is perfect for both social and professional use, as the case looks and is highly professional, yet the added character through the Red Bird has that aspect of social.

The front cover of the case acts as an iPad 3 screen protector when your iPad isn’t in use, but when you are using it, it transforms into a stand for your iPad – so watching media, typing and swiping is that little more comfortable.

The case is highly protective from day to day bumps, drops, scrapes and scratches, but even better the case is thin and lightweight too.  This makes it easy to carry around and use without adding much bulk to your slim iPad.

You can still access all the ports and features of your iPad 3 with this case meaning your iPad is fully functioning at all times and that you don’t have to keep removing and re-applying the case.

These three cases are available for pre-order now and I can’t wait for them to be in stock!  What iPad cases are you excited about?  Let us know via the usual channels.

More Nokia Lumia’s are coming and we’ve got the prices and release dates

Wednesday, April 4th, 2012

The Nokia Lumia range has proven to be really popular, helping to bring Nokia back in the running for the smartphone crown.  The mobile giants are releasing two more Lumia handsets and we’ve got the prices and release dates for them….

Sim Free Nokia Lumia 610

Sim Free Nokia Lumia 610

The Lumia 610 is the cheapest Nokia Windows phone to be released.  It runs Windows 7.5 (Mango) meaning you have a world of apps at your fingertips; whether you’re a social media fan, gamer or a lover of all apps.

Housing a 3.7″ LCD display, this entry level handset shows all images and visuals at a high quality, so you can see every detail.  This is great for when you take images with the 5MP camera, as you can show them off and share them at the quality they were intended.

Gaming is great on the Lumia 610 as you can connect to the Xbox Live Hub and chat with your friends on the go; seeing who’s online and how the leaderboards are changing.

Built in Internet Explorer also makes it easy to quickly surf the web; whilst having access to the MarketPlace means you can download apps to help you in day to day life such as Nokia Maps, Nokia Drive and Nokia Music – you can fully personalise the handset to your tastes.

The Sim Free Nokia Lumia 610 will be available in June costing £224.95, along with a range of Nokia Lumia 610 accessories.

Sim Free Nokia Lumia 900

Sim Free Nokia Lumia 900

Nokia’s flagship handset, the Lumia 900 also runs Windows Phone 7.5 (Mango) but has the processor speeds to match, running a 1.4GHz processor.  This means the handset works at rapid speeds, so can keep up with you.

The camera on the Lumia 900 is an 8MP camera with a Carl Zeiss lens, making the detail captured incredible.  The front facing camera is 1.3MP too so video calls have a great quality too.

Screen wise, the Lumia 900 has a 4.3″ AMOLED ClearBack Display so every detail is heightened and shown to its full potential.  The colours are vivid and bright; plus reflections are reduced thanks to the finish of the display.

There’s 16GB of internal storage on the Lumia 900 which is needed for the thousands of apps at your fingertips and gaming possibilities through Xbox Live.  It’s an impressive handset and like the 610 can be personalised to your tastes.

We’ll be selling the Sim Free Nokia Lumia 900 for £489.95 when it’s available in June, along with a variety of bright and bold Nokia Lumia 900 accessories.

Are either of these handsets the new phone for you?  Let us know through the usual channels!

Four Cool and Quirky Apple Accessories

Friday, March 30th, 2012

There’s always new accessories coming out for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad – whether it’s a cool new case, an app or something pretty wacky and wonderful.  In the case of these four new products, they’re genuinely useful, with all of them having apps to help make life that little bit easier:

Kogeto Dot for iPhone

Kogeto Dot for iPhone 4/4S

The Kogeto Dot for iPhone 4/4S is a revolutionary device which attaches to the camera lens of your iPhone, allowing you to take 360 degree panoramic shots of your surroundings.

The Dot simply, clicks onto your iPhone, like a hard iPhone case would, then once you’ve downloaded the free Looker app you’re ready to take pictures like never before.

Like an all seeing eye, the Dot sees everything around you so it’s perfect for taking to a concert, getting the most amazing holiday snaps and truly making moments unforgettable.

What’s clever about the Dot is that it takes the 360 degree image all at once, without stitching frames together.  The system is AR-coated for excellent colour fidelity in all environments, meaning you can use it come rain or shine.  It doesn’t require any batteries or external power either – all you need is your iPhone and the looker app.

When you view the image, they’re displayed with a virtual spin around, so by swiping the screen you see difference areas of the image or you can view it in a straight panoramic widescreen.  The images are easy to share via email and social media too.

iBike Dash CC Cycling Computer

iBike Dash CC Cycling Computer for Apple Devices

The iBike Dash is the ultimate iPhone cover and app combo for those who take their cycling seriously.

Providing a convenient and safe way to dock your iPhone or iPod touch whilst cycling, the phone cover is both water resistant and shock absorbing, so no damage will come to your Apple device.

Inside the case is a sophisticated range of iDash electronics that capture a range of cycling information such as speed, distance and time.  This is great for if you’re training or trying to improve your cycling ability.

The iBike uses a wireless ANT+ speed sensor and the free iBike app to record all this info and even display large colourful maps .  You can customise the app so that you can see what you like on the screen too, depending on what you’re working on. When you’ve finished your ride, you can email all the stats, so it’s easy to keep track of progress.

If teamed with a bluetooth headset, you can handle calls and listen to music from your Apple device whilst on the go to, so your device is still fully functioning.

The iBike Dash is great for those in training, mountain bikers or those just serious about cycling.

Medisana TargetScale Body Analysis Scale

Medisana TargetScale Body Analysis Scale

Next up is the Medisana TargetScale which can be used with any Apple device, making it one of the most advanced iPad 3 accessories available.

It precisely measures your weight, BMI, body fat, muscle and bone mass, helping you along on your healthy eating regime and with your health targets.

The scales and Vita Dock app work together in order to help you achieve your goals.  The flashing circles on the scales visualise how close you are to your target weight – the closer the circles to the centre, the closer you are.  This is a great way to see your progress.

The Vita Dock app allows you to save a number of users so you can train with your friends, giving you the extra boost to succeed.  It collects and records all the data the scales record, allowing you to add notes to each measurement and share them with friends and family.

A great device and app to help you stay in shape and reach you goals – the Medisana TargetScale Body Analysis Scale.

Medisana GlucoDock for Apple Devices

Medisana GlucoDock for Apple Devices

The final device is the Medisana GlucoDock for Apple devices, a clever device hailed as the next generation blood sugar measuring device.

Designed to plug into your iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch, the Medisana GlucoDock measures your blood sugar by placing a drop of blood on the test strip.

This is a great device for diabetics as it means they can easily store past blood sugar information in the interactive diary and don’t have to carry around another kit.  It’s a simple and easy to use attachment.

You can switch the unit of which your blood reading is taken between mg/dl and mmol/L depending on your preference.  The reading takes around five seconds so you can do it on the go quickly and easily.

Previous readings and trends can be shared with your family and doctor so that it can easily be analysed, helping you to know how to proceed in future with your diet in regards to your blood level.

Designed to help and make life just that little easier, we think these devices are all pretty cool.  What do you think?  Would you ever use one of these?  Let us know through the usual channels..
