Crazy-thin Samsung Galaxy A8 announced

Samsung announced their latest smartphone today, the Galaxy A8. The new phone is a surprisingly strong mid-range phone, boasting the thinnest build of any Samsung phone. In fact, the A8 measures just 5.9 millimetres – it’s incredible.

Despite the phone’s slim construction, it’s well equipped and even includes a sizable 3050mAh battery. The phone’s front is dominated by a 5.7-inch 1080p AMOLED display, surrounded top and bottom by a 5-megapixel front-facing camera and fingerprint-reading home button. Inside, there’s a mid-range Snapdragon 615 processor, 2GB of RAM and 16 or 32GB of internal storage. There’s also a Micro SD card slot, naturally.

While Samsung announced the phone and its specifications, we’ve yet to hear anything about pricing or availability, although we can guess with some certainty that it will be a worldwide affair hitting at the higher end of the mid range. Samsung released its predecessor, the A7, in a few territories first before a wider release, and we could see something similar here.
