When you plug your phone in the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 dock, you get loads more functionality. While most docks will stop at just charging the phone (and maybe syncing to PC if the USB lead is connected to one), this goes way beyond that.
- You get an HDMI output, which will allow you to connect the Note 2 to an HDTV, monitor or projector. This is perfect for watching films or playing games, as you get full HD video and sound onto that HDTV.
- You get three USB ports, which support plugging in a mouse, keyboard, gamepad or storage device. That means you can get a full desktop PC experience, with mouse and keyboard control, and still have one port left over for connecting a USB flash drive or USB card reader.
- You get a 3.5 mm stereo jack, allowing you to plug your Note 2 into your speakers or stereo system. This is ideal for listening to music, allowing you to quickly and easily play music over your speakers whenever the phone is in the dock.
- Finally, you get the same charging and syncing abilities that all other docks provide, ensuring that the Note 2 is kept fully topped up while it’s doing all the rest of the stuff above.
The dock is compatible with the official Samsung Smart Covers, so you won’t need to take these off when the phone is in the dock. The dock also works well with the dock mode of the Note 2, allowing quick access to common docked applications as well as the full phone OS if you prefer.
This Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Smart Dock is a veritable battle station, and it should radically extend and transform the device’s capabilities. With the native multi-tasking multi-window capabilities of the Note 2 combined with its strong multimedia performance, this should work extremely well.
The Smart Dock, the ultimate Samsung Galaxy Note 2 accessory, will be available in the coming weeks for a price yet to be announced. As soon as we have any news on a potential release date or price, we’ll be sure to let you know.
