HTC Evo 3D: Essential Accessories

Introduction

Today we’ll be covering the essential accessories for my favourite 3D phone, HTC’s Evo 3D. As more and more 3D applications come to the Android market, the Evo 3D will be a better and better purchase — and even without its fancy 3D capabilities, it’s still a great phone!

Anyhow, let’s get started.

Seidio HTC Evo 3D Innocase II Surface

The Seidio Innocase II Surface is a quality case with a rather long name. The silicone-construction case, as you can see below, contains everything you’d need to protect your Sim Free HTC Evo 3D (except that all-important HTC Evo 3D screen protector) from bumps and scrapes.

It’s also got a useful kickstand, which allows you to watch your 3D movies at a comfortable 49 degree angle. This kickstand works in both landscape and portrait modes, letting you watch films and monitor incoming notifications.

As always, the Innocase II Surface also has cutouts for all of the features of the phone, meaning you can plug in your HTC Evo 3D charger and use the smartphone’s powerful 3D video camera.

Overall, quite an excellent HTC Evo 3D case that combines excellent protection with that little something extra.

InvisibleSHIELD for HTC Evo 3D

You might be confused, looking at the product image for the InvisibleSHIELD. Where’s the case?

Well, it’s invisible. This isn’t a magical invisibility cloak straight off the back of Harry Potter though, this is a true-to-form full body screen protector. Just like a normal screen protector, the InvisibleSHIELD covers the front of your phone with a scratch resistant (but not fall or crush resistant) seal.

Unlike a normal screen protector, this HTC Evo 3D cover seals the entire phone. It’s a cool concept, and works surprisingly well to add scratch protection without adding unnecessary bulk. For more active smartphone users, this might be a bit too little protection, but if your smartphone only has to brave your desk then a full-body screen protector isn’t a bad idea.

The last of the HTC Evo 3D covers we’ll be looking at today, this officially licensed HTC Skin is one of the few HTC Evo 3D cases that is officially supported by the original manufacturers. For this reason, you can be sure that the case fits the curves of the Evo 3D perfectly, offering all of the cutaways necessary to allow full use whilst in the case.

Unlike many bulkier cases, the TPU Skin covers just the back and sides, leaving the entire front of the phone free for unrestricted use. It’s a sensible arrangement, as you’ll rarely drop your phone directly onto its face. The skin is also quite inexpensive, but made of a stiff thermoplastic that will handily resist scratching and fall damage.

All in all, quite a decent choice.

HTC Evo 3D Car Upgrade Kit

This next bit of kit is also an official HTC product, and as such offers the same kind of absolutely tight fit as the Shell. This piece is the official HTC Evo 3D Car Upgrade Kit, essentially just a custom-made HTC Evo 3D car holder.

Beyond its precise fit, the Car Upgrade Kit has a light, thin design, as it’s made to hold the weight and size of the Evo 3D without having to take into account phones of other weights and sizes, a specificity that allows the kit to manifest much more efficiently.

The other benefit of the Evo 3D Car Kit is that it includes an inline charger, allowing your Evo 3D to keep charged up whilst it’s sitting in the HTC Evo 3D dock. This integrated solution is a lot cleaner and tidier than more universal implementations, keeping the cable tucked away in the internal structure of the kit instead of getting in the way as it hangs on the outside.

This car kit is definitely the top choice for car-owners with the HTC Evo 3D.

HTC Evo 3D Desktop Sync and Charge Cradle

The last piece of kit on our list is the ever-popular HTC Evo 3D desk stand. This one is called the HTC Evo 3D Desktop Sync and Charge Cradle, and comes with the two features you’d expect from the name – syncing and charging.

The ultra-wide dock also allows the phone to rest in landscape mode, meaning that it’s easy to watch films or surf the web from the dock, instead of being contstrained to portrait mode only.
