Just your type – an iPad 2 case with in-built Bluetooth keyboard

The KeyCase Folio Deluxe with Bluetooth Keyboard was one of our most popular iPad cases of all last year, so we’re very pleased to announce that the manufacturers have now brought out an iPad 2 version!

For many of you, the idea of an iPad 2 having a physical keyboard may seem somewhat redundant – after all, there’s already a virtual one right there on the screen!  Others, on the other hand, will be wondering why no one thought of it sooner – there’s just something about the tactile feel of buttons under your fingers that you can’t get from a smooth capacitive screen, not to mention the fact that typing’s simply faster on a physical keyboard.  It also helps to cut down on those annoying smudges and greasy fingerprints that inevitably build up on the surface of your tablet display!

At first glance, the KeyCase looks like any other iPad 2 case, albeit a rather stylish one.  It’s made of hardwearing leather, to protect the tablet from bumps and scratches, and a magnetic clasp gives it that extra bit of security as well as finishing off the professional look.  There are specially-designed cut-outs in the case to allow access to all of the iPad’s buttons and functions, ensuring that the case doesn’t impair usability.

Inside, though, there’s a secret – a full QWERTY iPad 2 keyboard, just ready to pair with your iPad 2 via Bluetooth and let you type away to your heart’s content.  The keyboard features quiet keypress technology, pairs automatically with your device and has a 10-minute auto-sleep function to help preserve battery.  The battery of the Bluetooth keyboard will last for up to 45 hours off one single charge – probably longer than the iPad itself – so you don’t have to faff around charging it up too often.

All in all this is a gorgeous piece of kit, especially suited to commuters who need to do a lot of typing on the hoof, and people who prefer a more tactile experience.  It’s one of our favourite iPad 2 accessories so far.

The Nokia E7 is being classed as the next in the popular Nokia Communicator series, and aims to strike a balance between the professional and the personal with 16GB in-built memory for music and video, an 8MP camera with HD video recording and business app support from Microsoft and IBM so that you can work on the go.  It also features a massive 4” display, which slides neatly up to expose a full QWERTY keyboard – making writing and editing documents a doddle.

Weekly News Round Up

iPhone 5 to ship in September

Last week we heard via Reuters that Apple are planning to launch a new iPhone in September, although there’s some debate across the internet as to whether this is going to be a small update (something like an iPhone 4GS) or a full-on iPhone 5.  Gizmodo reckon the latter, mostly because of the late release of the white iPhone 4.

Speaking of the iPhone 4 – we’ve got an iPhone 4 dock in that you can use without having to go through all the rigmarole of removing your iPhone 4 bumper or case beforehand.  Aces!  No more faffing around, and it works with even the biggest and bulkiest cases.  It’s called the CaseBuddy Case Compatible Dock (try saying that fast…).

Best ever iPhone 4 case

It’s not cheap, but it is absolutely gorgeous.  I’m talking about the ElementCASE Vapor PRO Black Ops Edition for iPhone 4.  Aircraft grade aluminium, black ultrasuede backing, aerospace polymer RF insert to prevent signal loss.  Now I’m not 100% what ultrasuede is, but it sounds cool – although probably everything sounds cool if you put “ultra” on the front of it! I might start calling myself ultra-Nat. Here it is:

We noticed that it’s often quite difficult online to work out which iPad 2 cases are compatible with the Smart Cover, and which aren’t, so we’ve done a bit of threshing over at the Mobile Fun website and separated the wheat from the chaff.  You can now see all of the iPad 2 Smart Cover Compatible Cases together on one page, which makes it much easier to find what you want. Motorola XOOM cases available now – grab them quick!
