It’s one of the most eagerly awaited handsets this year and it’s almost here. The Nokia N8 is the latest touchscreen smart phone to try and take on the iPhone and it boasts some of the most impressive features seen on a Nokia phone in years.
The N8 has a 12MP Camera that can capture video in HD, 16GB internal storage and a 3.5″ capacitive touchscreen – a massive improvement over the resistive screens found on handsets like the Nokia 5800. The N8 is one of only a few handsets to have a HDMI port built into the phone that lets you connect your phone quickly and easily to your HDTV.
The N8 is certainly the most exciting Nokia phone in a long time and we can’t wait to get our hands on it. If you’re counting down the days to it’s planned release on the 8th of October, now is the perfect time to start finding some accessories to go with it. Nokia are quite generous with the in-box accessories, but you’ll still need to splash out on a few extras if you want to really make the most of your new phone.
To give you a few ideas on what’s available, here are 10 of our favourite Nokia N8 Accessories.
Tuff Luv Leather Case for Nokia N8
There are two ways to keep your phone protected against knocks and bumps, the first is to leave it in the box and don’t touch it, the other is to put it in a case! I’m pretty sure you’re going to want to show your new phone off, so a case is by far the best option. Unlike most flip cases, the Tuff Luv case doesn’t hold your N8 in place using a stitched pocket. Instead, padded clips hold your phone in place, leaving your screen and all ports fully accessible. The flip is hinged at the top of the phone and has a cut out that allows you to use the headphones while the phone is in the case.

InvisibleSHIELD Full Body Protector – Nokia N8
If you don’t want to scratch your phone, but don’t want any extra bulk that comes with a case, then an InvisibleShield is a great alternative. It’s a tough, thin film that sticks to all of your N8 preventing it from getting scratched. They’re less than 1mm thin so you can still use them with cases and pouches if you want. They add a non slip feel to your phone too, reducing the chance of it slipping out of your hands while you’re using it.

Nokia BH-505 Stereo Bluetooth Headset
If you want to enjoy your music without the wires, then you need to get yourself a Stereo Bluetooth Headset. They work in pretty much the same way as a standard Bluetooth Headset, but as they have two earpieces, you can listen to your music and calls in stereo. As there is no physical connection between the BH-505 and the Nokia N8, they’re perfect for when you’re at the gym, cycling, running etc, as you’re not going to get tangled in a mass of wires. There are music controls on the headset that allow you to play, pause, skip tracks and answer calls, all without having to touch your phone.

Nokia CR-122 Car Holder Pack for Nokia N8
The Nokia Mobile Holder CR-122 keeps your Nokia N87 Mini firmly in place in the car. The screen of the phone is fully visible and all ports are accessible. The CR-122 can be rotated for use in either landscape or portrait mode making it the ideal accessory if you use Nokia Maps or another Sat Nav app on your phone. It attaches to your windscreen using a compact suction mount that is secured by twisting the base of the holder.

SanDisk MicroSD Card – 32GB
The Nokia N8 really is a great Multimedia handset and it comes with plenty of internal storage. For some though this won’t be enough – especially if you start recording video in HD and transferring all your music and videos onto the phone. If this is what you’re planning on using your N8 for, you’re going to need an additional memory card. A 16GB memory card will let you store over 2000 high quality photos, 2000 songs and around 1 hour of standard definition video with room left over for your apps. A larger 32GB Micro SD HC memory card is also available if you need even more storage space.

Nokia Silicone Cover CC-1005 For Nokia N8
Sometimes the simplest cases are the best. Silicone cases are made from a thin, tough silicone gel that protects the back and sides of your Nokia N8 against knocks and scrapes. They add very little to your phone in terms of weight and size and are designed to repel dust and fluff. They allow full access to your screen and keypad but as they leave the screen exposed you’ll need to invest in a Nokia N8 Screen Protector to go with it. The CC-1005 is available in Purple, Green, Black and Blue.

Jabra Cruiser Bluetooth Speakerphone
I love the Jabra Cruiser and talk about it far too much, but there really isn’t an alternative that can match what this does! The Cruiser is a a small, slim portable car kit that adds both of these features to an already fantastic car kit. The Jabra Cruiser is a Bluetooth Car Kit that simply clips to the sun visor of your car and pairs to your N8 using Bluetooth. The Cruiser supports both the A2DP and AVRCP profiles, which means that it can stream your music over Bluetooth for playback either through its built in speaker or through your car stereo using a built in FM Transmitter and you can also play/pause/track skip without having to touch your N8. The Jabra Cruiser will also play your phone calls through your car stereo speakers for improved clarity. The dual microphones in the Cruiser work together to cut out background noise, making this a perfect choice for any one who spends a lot of time driving on motorways or noisy roads.

Nokia Stylus SU-36
The Nokia SU-36 is a stylus for the N8 and other touchscreen phones that use capacitive displays. Unlike traditional resistive displays, a capacitive screen doesn’t rely on pressure to work, instead they use the electrical signal from your finger – that’s why you can’t use your phone with gloves on, with a pen or your existing stylus. The SU-36 is a compact, retractable stylus that can make handwriting recognition, texting and drawing faster.

Nokia CP-503 Carry Case – Black
This case from Nokia has been created especially for the N8. It’s a stylish pouch that you slide your phone into when you’re not using it. It has a soft lining to keep your phone clean and free from fingerprints or scratches. The case still allows you to use your headphones, charger, HDMI and USB cables your N8 is in it.

More Nokia N8 accessories will be arriving over the coming weeks, so keep an eye on the blog for more in-depth reviews in the next few weeks.

There have been just two massively popular phones released this year – the HTC Desire and of course iPhone 4. Other handsets have been popular too, but nowhere near the scale of these two. That’s all about to change over the next few weeks when some eagerly awaited handsets hit the market. Over the next 6 weeks we’ll finally get the Nokia N8, HTC Desire Z and the eagerly awaited HTC Desire HD.
The Desire HD is a significant upgrade over the current model. It boasts a bigger screen, more internal memory, faster internet speeds, faster Wi-Fi, 8MP camera with HD video recording, a bigger screen and an operating system that supports flash. It’s bigger and heavier than it’s predecessor, which means most of your existing accessories aren’t going to fit.
If you’re planning on getting one as soon as it’s released (8th October) you’ll want a few accessories to help you make the most of your new phone. To give you a head start, here are 10 of my favourite HTC Desire HD Accessories.
HTC Desire HD Pouch – PO S550
The PO S550 is a case from HTC that’s made specifically for the Wildfire. It’s a simple carry pouch with a built in pull strap. When your phone is in the case the strap sits under your phone, when you want to remove your Desire HD, just give the strap a gentle tug and it will raise your phone from the case quickly and effortlessly. The case is made from a high quality leather and has a soft interior that helps keep the screen clean and prevent scratches.

HTC Desire HD Pouch - PO S550
SanDisk MicroSDHC Card – 16GB
Despite it’s generous dimensions, the Desire HD only has a fairly small amount of internal storage – just 1.5GB. This is considerably more than most phone’s out there, but it’s also nowhere near what you get on an iPhone or Samsung Galaxy S. As a result, one of the first purchases you will need to make is a memory card. You might have got a small capacity card in the box with the phone, but this will fill up quickly with photos and video so a larger card is a must. A 16GB memory card will let you store over 2000 high quality photos, 2000 songs and around 1 hour of standard definition video with room left over for your apps. A larger 32GB Micro SD HC memory card is also available if you need even more storage space.

SanDisk MicroSDHC Card - 16GB
Jabra Cruiser Bluetooth Speakerphone
I’ve recommended the Jabra Cruiser in most of my posts, and it’s still one of the best car kits you can get – and surprisingly no-one as yet has really produced a decent alternative to it. The Cruiser is a must have accessory if you want to listen to music from your Desire HD in your car. The Cruiser is a small, slim portable car kit that combines an FM transmitter with a Bluetooth Car Kit. The Jabra Cruiser simply clips to the sun visor of your car and pairs to your Desire HD using Bluetooth. The Cruiser streams music from your phone over Bluetooth and you can control your music using the built in controls – this is great as it means you can still play/control your music even if you’ve left your phone in your bag on the back seat.

Jabra Cruiser Bluetooth Speakerphone
There are two choices when it comes to listening to your music. You can either play your music back through the built in speaker or through your car stereo using its built in FM Transmitter. It’s currently the only car kit to have dual microphones for improved noise reduction. If you spend a lot of time in the car taking calls and are bored of listening to the radio then the Jabra Cruiser really should be top of your wish list. If you don’t want/need the music controls then take a look at the Jabra SP700. It does more or less the same job but without the music controls and noise cancelling dual microphones.
Clingo Universal Vent Mount
I’m not normally a fan of universal phone holders, but this one is excellent. Clingo holders use a special adhesive pad to keep your phone firmly in place. Placing your phone on it might seem a little scary at first as there are no spring loaded grips and no visible support for your phone at all. We’ve tested these with the heaviest of phones and they just don’t fall off – not even when you bounce over speed bumps. It can rotate through 360 degrees, so it’s perfect for using with the sat nav app on your phone. To remove your phone, you simply lift it off the pad. No fiddly clamps and no sticky mess on your phone. If you’re not convinced, head over to the product pages where you’ll be able to see a video of it in action.

Clingo Universal Vent Mount
HTC Desire HD Screen Protector SP P430 – Twin Pack
One of the biggest changes to the Desire HD compared to the original Desire is to the screen. The Desire HD has a massive 4.3″ screen – the same as the HTC HD2. It’s a gorgeous display and one that you’re not going to want to damage. The best way to keep the screen free from scratches and looking like new is to fit a screen protector. These screen protectors from HTC are precision cut to size and are quick and easy to install.

HTC Desire HD Screen Protector SP P430 - Twin Pack
Sony Ericsson MW600 Stereo Bluetooth Headset
The MW600 is another accessory that features in a lot of my top 10′s. It’s a great buy at less than £40, has some amazing features and no-one else can come close to it. It’s a multipoint stereo bluetooth headset with a built in FM radio. This means that you can listen to your music from your phone in stereo without any wires. What’s more, you can connect this to a second device at the same time – this could be your work mobile, your PC for VoIP calling or your PS3 for online gaming – it works with them all. If a call comes in, the headset will automatically switch to your phone and allow you to take the call without any messing about. As soon as the call is over you’ll be returned to your music or gaming.

DAGi Smartphone Slim Line Capacitive Stylus
Although the Desire HD has one of the best touch screens available, not everyone likes using their finger to control it – especially anyone who is used to using a stylus on a previous phone. If you’ve tried to use a traditional stylus with the Desire HD you’ll have already noticed that they don’t work on as the Desire HD has a capacitive touch screen that doesn’t rely on pressure to activate it. There is a way round this though – the Dagi Capacitive Stylus.

DAGi Smartphone Slim Line Capacitive Stylus
There are 3 sizes of Dagi Capacitive Stylus to choose from as well as a HTC branded one for the HTC Desire HD. What makes these different to a regular stylus is that instead of having a point to press your screen, they have a flat circular disc at the end that works in a similar way to how your finger would. They’re great for drawing, making handwritten notes and sketching things out, but not as fast/accurate as your fingers are when you’re typing on the on screen keyboard.
Jawbone ICON Bluetooth Headset – The Thinker – Black
If you use your Desire HD in the car but prefer a bluetooth headset then take a look at the Jawbone Icon. Bluetooth headsets are the safest and legal way to use your phone for calling when you’re driving. As with Desire HD cases, the range of bluetooth headsets can be overwhelming as there are just so many to choose from – all promising the same thing – exceptional call quality and easy to use controls. The Jawbone Icon delivers on both of these promises. It uses the latest Jawbone technology that not only detects vibrations in your jawbone but also uses dual microphones to eliminate background noise.
What makes this headset my favourite for the Desire HD is the extra stuff it does. It supports ‘voice apps’ – small downloadable apps that add extra functionality to the headset – for example voice overs for battery levels and caller ID and support for A2DP (stereo audio).

Jawbone ICON Bluetooth Headset - The Thinker
HTC CC C200 Micro USB Car Charger
Ask any smartphone owner about their battery life and you’ll be met with a pretty negative response. Even though the battery in the Desire HD has been improved over that in the original Desire, it’s still going to drain quickly as soon as you start using your phone in the car with any GPS apps - Sat Nav in particular. The HTC CC200 is a genuine HTC accessory that will keep your Desire HD charged in the car. Unlike some cheaper car chargers, the CC200 is powerful enough to charge the phone even when it’s being used for GPS.

HTC CC C200 Micro USB Car Charger
These are just a handful of the HTC Desire Accessories so if you’ve not seen anything here that does what you want, don’t worry, just head over to the main site where you’ll be able to view plenty more accessories to help you make the most of your phone and keep it looking at its best.

The Nokia E63 has been around for a few months now and is a great phone for those that spend a lot of time texting, emailing or instant messaging. It’s based on the popular Nokia E71 and E72 business phones. It’s not too different to the E71 – the main difference being that it has a plastic outer shell rather than metal. To keep the handset costs down some of the high end features didn’t make it into the E63, but it still has Wi-Fi, great battery life, expandable memory and a 2MP camera.
If you’ve got the Nokia E63, you’re going to want to make the most of all of it’s features, and to do that you’ll need to invest in a few extra accessories, so to help you find the best ones I’ve compiled my list of some of our most popular E63 Accessories.
Noreve Tradition A Leather Case for Nokia E63
Noreve produce high quality cases for a range of top end smart phones. The Noreve Flip Case for the Nokia e63 is an elegant case that gives Piel Frama and PDair a run for their money. The case has a stitched pocket that holds your phone securely and doesn’t cover any of the screen or keypad. The whole case is hand crafted from top quality leather and leaves your camera, charging ports and volume keys accessible. The case has a detachable ratchet clip on the back that can be removed easily to leave the back of the case perfectly flat.

Noreve Tradition A Leather Case for Nokia E63
Nokia DC-4 Car Charger
Keeping your E63 charged in the car is easy with the Nokia DC-4 Car Charger. It features a tangle proof cable, LED indicator and will stop charging your E63 once the battery is full. The DC-4 Car Charger will work in Cars, Vans and Trucks and works on both 12v & 24v.

Nokia DC-4 Car Charger
Brodit Passive Holder with Tilt Swivel – Nokia E63
The safest and easiest way to use your Nokia E63 in the car is to have it mounted in a fixed holder. Brodit Car Holders are moulded specifically for your phone from a tough ABS plastic. They are designed to be screwed to a Brodit ProClip – a damage free bracket that clips onto your dashboard without marking it. If you prefer you can also screw them directly into your dashboard or attached it to a windscreen suction mount. Brodit Car Holders leave all ports and keys accessible on your phone.

Brodit Passive Holder with Tilt Swivel - Nokia E63
Capdase Privacy Guard – Nokia E63
The E63 is all about messaging, and there’s nothing worse than having the person next to you reading what’s on your screen. These privacy guards are screen protectors that not only protect your phone against scratches, the also protect it from prying eyes. They’re cleverly constructed to let only allow the person holding the phone see the screen. Try glancing it it from any other angle and you just see a dark screen. Perfect for when you’re reading confidential work emails or telling that special someone how much you miss them while you’re on the train!

Capdase Privacy Guard - Nokia E63
Desktop Battery Charger For Nokia Batteries
One of Nokia’s strongest features in all of their phones is the battery life. Compared to most modern smartphones their batteries last extremely well – the E63 for example should give you over 2 weeks standby and almost 5 hours of talk time. For some though, this might not be enough. Carrying a spare battery is the best way to keep talking, especially if you’re going to be out of the office all day with out access to power. The only downside to spare batteries is that you have to charge them up while they’re in the phone – something that most people tend to forget. This desktop charger is a perfect solution to that problem. just sit your spare battery in it, plug it in to your existing car or mains charger and your battery will be charged and ready to go when you are.

Desktop Battery Charger For Nokia Batteries
SanDisk MicroSDHC Card – 8GB Without Reader
The camera on the E63 is great for snapping photo’s while you’re out and about, but if you’re anything like me, these photos will stay on your phone and rarely get transferred over to your PC. As a result, you’ll find your memory card soon fills up and you have to start deleting stuff to carry on taking photos or to add more music to your phone. Memory cards have come down in price considerably over the last 12 months and you can now get an 8GB memory card for less than £20 and a 16GB memory card for less than £31. Nokia BH-607 Bluetooth Headset
The Nokia BH-607 is Nokia’s latest Bluetooth headset and will look great with your E63. Controls are simple, one button to answer/end calls and another to activate voice dialling, read out text messages, send a predefined sms or hear the time. The headset has a detachable earloop and is one of the smartest bluetooth headsets to come out of Nokia in quite a while. Charging time is around 15 minutes for about 5 hours talk time or 120 hours standby.

Nokia BH-607 Bluetooth Headset
Bluetooth GPS Receiver
The Nokia E63 can be used as a GPS and most will come with Nokia Maps pre-installed, but as the phone doesn’t have a GPS receiver built in, you’ll need to purchase one separately. Bluetooth GPS receivers are extremely compact and this one is not much bigger than a box of matches.

Bluetooth GPS Receiver
It connects to your phone using bluetooth and will provide your phone with a GPS signal, enabling you to use it for sat nav, sports tracking, geo tagging photos and loads more. You don’t need any special software on the phone, just pair it up, download the app you want to use it with from the OVI store and away you go.
Jabra Cruiser Bluetooth Speakerphone
If you want to listen to music from your E63 in your car, the Jabra Cruiser is a great wireless way to do it. The Cruiser is a small, slim portable car kit that combines an FM transmitter with a Bluetooth Car Kit. The Jabra Cruiser simply clips to the sun visor of your car and pairs to your E63 using Bluetooth. The Cruiser can stream your music to it over Bluetooth and you can control your music using the built in controls rather than your phone as the Cruiser supports both the A2DP and AVRCP profiles.

Jabra Cruiser Bluetooth Speakerphone
There are two choices for when it comes to listening to your music. You can either play your music back through the built in speaker or through your car stereo using it’s built in FM Transmitter. It ’s currently the only car kit to have dual microphones for improved noise reduction. If you spend a lot of time in the car taking calls and are bored of listening to the radio then the Jabra Cruiser is a must have item. If you don’t want/need the music controls then take a look at the Jabra SP700. It does the same job but without the music controls and noise cancelling dual microphones.
There should be something in this list for everyone, but if not, we’ve got a wide range of E63 Covers, E63 Cases and E63 Screen Protectors over on the main site. If you’ve got any E63 accessories that we don’t have listed, let us know using the comments form below.

Earlier this month Apple updated their range of iPods, adding more features and changing the way we use the nano and shuffle. After years of rumours and speculation, the iPod Nano finally became a touch screen device – although not in the way that many were expecting.
In a fairly drastic change of direction, the iPod nano touch (as some are calling it) is now all about the music. There’s no camera, no video recording – in fact you can’t even watch videos on it any more!
The screen has shrunk in size and is now a 3cm touch screen – this makes it easier to use than the dated click wheel found on previous models. Unusually though, the iPod nano touch interface doesn’t run on iOS – this means no apps and no games – but then considering the size of the screen that’s probably a good thing.
The new iPod nano is really, really small, so if you’re planning on upgrading your current iPod nano to the new one not all of your accessories will work with it. Standard accessories such as docks and headphones will be fine, but cases and screen protectors certainly won’t.
There aren’t many iPod nano 6G accessories available just yet, but I thought I’d take a look at some of the cases, screen protectors and other essential accessories that are available now. I’ll be covering iPod nano 6G cases in more depth in a future post.
Martin Fields Screen Protector – iPod Nano 6G
With the new iPod nano being so small, there’s every chance it’s going to spend a lot of it’s life in your pocket with coins and keys. Over time, they’re going to cause damage to the screen. A screen protector is the best way of keeping your iPod nano looking like new. Martin Fields screen protectors are extremely clear and can be fitted in seconds. They’re easily removed and won’t leave any sticky mess behind either.

Martin Fields Screen Protector - iPod Nano 6G
iPod Nano 6G Silicone Case – Clear
In the same way that keys and coins in your pocket are going to scratch the screen, they’re also likely to damage the metal housing of the nano too. A simple silicone case is all you need to stop your iPod from getting scratched and scuffed. It leaves the screen, switches and clip accessible, but leaves the screen exposed, so I’d only recommend using this with a screen protector. They aren’t very bulky, but if you want something even smaller to protect your nano, take a look at the InvisibleSHIELD Full Body Protector.

iPod Nano 6G Silicone Case - Clear
Incipio Linq band for iPod Nano 6G – Black
One of the more interesting styles of case for the new iPod nano is the wrist strap. While this might seem like an odd place to mount your iPod, it makes sense at the same time. When you’re not listening to your music you can use it as your watch, and when you are, it’s close to hand when you want to change track or adjust the volume.

Incipio Linq band for iPod Nano 6G - Black
Skullcandy Titan Headphones – Black
If you own an iPod nano, one of the first purchases you’ll want to make will be for a new, more powerful set of headphones. The earphones in the box are ok, but as with any music device, the standard headphones in the box aren’t normally that great. The Titan Headphones from SkullCandy are a comfortable, high quality upgrade to the standard earphones. They’re the ear-canal design, so are less likely to fall out of your ears and have flexible rubber eargels for extra comfort.

Skullcandy Titan Headphones - Black
3.5mm to 3.5mm Audio Cable
This is probably one of the least exciting accessories you can get for your iPod nano, but it’s also one of the most useful to have. It’s a cable that allows you to connect your iPod into any powered speaker unit – this can be anything, just look for a 3.5mm line in or aux in port on your stereo. A lot of new car stereos have one of these ports on the front too, which makes it an ideal way to play your music in the car with the minimum of fuss and expense.

3.5mm to 3.5mm Audio Cable
It’s still early days for iPod nano accessories, but over the next few weeks the range of accessories should grow significantly so look out for an updated post in the next few weeks

Earlier this month Apple updated their range of iPods, adding a range of new features and improving their usability. The iPod touch finally saw the addition of a rear camera for taking photo’s and recording HD video – something that people have been requesting for years. The screen has also upgraded and is now a high resolution ‘Retina Display’ similar to that found on iPhone 4. The only other noticeable change is that there’s now a camera on the front and a microphone on the back that enables the iPod to make FaceTime video calls over a Wi-Fi connection. The latest update to the iPod touch operating system, iOS 4.1, introduced a number of improvements to the Bluetooth support on the iPod touch too – opening it up to a whole new range of accessories.
The shape and size of the new iPod touch has changed slightly, so if you’re planning on upgrading your current iPod touch to the new one not all of your accessories will work with it. Standard accessories such as docks and headphones will be fine, but cases and screen protectors won’t.
With the new iPod touch now being so closely matched (in terms of spec) to the iPhone, I thought I’d take a look at some new iPod touch accessories – including some that you might not necessarily think of using with an MP3 player. I’ll be covering iPod touch 4G cases in more depth in a future post.
Hard Candy Street Skin for iPod touch 4G
Hard Candy are a relatively new brand that are proving to be extremely popular with iPhone 4 owners. There are currently two styles of Hard Candy iPod touch case – the Bubble Slider and the Street Skin. Each case is made from a tough polycarbonate and provides excellent protection against knocks and scrapes. The Street Skin is a one piece rubber case that has cut outs for the camera and volume keys and has a non slip finish. No screen protector is included though, so you’ll need to invest in an iPod touch 4G screen protector separately.

Hard Candy Street Skin for iPod touch 4G - Black
Martin Fields Screen Protector – iPod touch 4G
The Martin Fields Screen Protector is easily one of the best quality screen protectors you can get. They’re crystal clear and will keep the screen of your iPod touch looking like new. They don’t reduce the clarity of your screen and colours look exactly the way they’re supposed to. If your screen protector gets dirty, they can be removed easily from the phone, cleaned and refitted. They are available individually or in a twin pack. It’s precision cut to fit the iPod touch and has cut outs for the Home button and FaceTime Camera.

Martin Fields Screen Protector - iPod touch 4G
InvisibleSHIELD Full Body Protector – iPod touch 4G
If you don’t want the added bulk of a case, but still want to protect your iPod touch, then an InvisibleShield is a great option. It’s a tough, thin plastic film that covers all of your device. I’ve been a fan of these for a while now as they do such a good job. Fitting them is a little bit time consuming, but the end result is well worth it. They don’t add a lot to the bulk of your handset so you can easily use them with most other cases and covers. They also give your iPod a bit more grip which helps to reduce the chances of it slipping out of your hands.

InvisibleSHIELD Full Body Protector - iPod touch 4G
Sony Ericsson MW600 Stereo Bluetooth Headset
Time for something a little bit different, but very cool! The MW600 is a Multipoint Stereo Bluetooth headset that is absolutely perfect for the iPod touch. Because the headset is Multipoint, you can use it with your iPod at the same time as your phone – for example, you can be listening to your music from your iPod touch through the MW600 and when a call comes through on your mobile, you’ll be able to answer the call using the headset – without having to disconnect the iPod. As soon as your call is over the headset will switch back to your music. What’s more, the MW600 has a built in FM radio – a feature that’s been missing from the iPod touch for years.

There are two other stand out features that make this a great choice for the iPod touch. Firstly, the headphones are standard 3.5mm earphones – this means that you can change them for whatever earphones you want if you don’t like/damage/lose the ones that come with it. Secondly, now that iOS4.1 has been updated to include full support for the AVRCP profile, you can use the music controls built into the headset allow you to fully control your music playback without having to touch your iPod. The buttons on the MW600 allow you to skip forward/back/play/pause and adjust the volume level. To change song or playlist you can use the headset to activate voice control and then simply talk to your iPod. For me, this is a must have accessory for music lovers.
Antimicrobial Silicone Case for iPod touch 4G
Silicone cases are one of the most simple, affordable and effective ways to protect any device. They protect it against bumps and knocks while leaving all the important parts of your iPod accessible. This one has a special coating that helps to kill of germs that might be lurking on your iPod touch. As you’d expect, there are cut outs for the camera, speakers and charging port and the volume keys can still be used through the case.

Skullcandy FMJ Full Metal Jacket Headphones – Chrome With Mic
If you love music, one of the first things you’ll want to replace will be the headphones. The standard ones that come with your iPod touch aren’t bad and are significantly better than those included with earlier models, but you can get better. The FMJ’s are quite bass heavy, so not so great if you prefer quiet, relaxing tunes, but they provide a clubby sound signature that makes for fun listening. They look great – they have metal casings and fabric cables. You get 3 sets of ear tips included, so if you lose some it’s not the end of the world. The in-line remote will work for music control, but doesn’t have any volume controls. It’s in the right place and the button is raised slightly to make it easy to locate without looking. We’ve checked the mic and it works perfectly with the iPod touch.

Scosche HD – High Definition Audio/Video Cable for iPod touch 4G
A lot of people now use their iPod to watch films and videos on while they’re out and about, but what do you do when you get home and don’t want to carry on watching on a relatively small screen? The simple answer is to plug your iPod touch into your TV and carry on watching from where you left off. It’s a lot less hassle and it’s quicker than transferring the film back to your PC/Mac and finding where you’re up to. This cable from Scosche is all you need to be able to connect your iPod touch, iPad or iPhone to your HDTV using the RGB Component input. If you don’t have a HDTV or all your component ports are in use, you can also get an Apple Composite Cable that does the same job, but using the red/white/yellow ports found on most TV’s. You won’t need to worry about running out of power either as both cables have the ability to charge your iPod at the same time.

Belkin TuneCast Auto Live FM Transmitter
If you want to be able to enjoy your music and podcasts while you’re in the car you can of course stick to using the standard earphones, but on long journeys they’re not particularly comfortable and it’s not really all that safe. There are a number of other solutions though and that’s what the next couple of accessories are for. The TuneCast Auto is a 2-in-1 product that will charge your iPod touch and transmit all audio over an FM frequency to your car stereo. For the best experience you can download an app that will use GPS data from your iPod touch to tune in to the clearest frequency where you are and prompt you to tune your stereo in to match. It’s clever, it’s easy and will work on iPod touch and iPhone.

Jabra Cruiser Bluetooth & FM Loud Speaker
This is a very similar kind of accessory to the TuneCase above, but it does it without wires. Instead of having to plug your iPod touch into the Jabra Cruiser, you connect to it using Bluetooth. Your music is then streamed to the Cruiser and you can then choose to either play it through the built in loudspeaker, or you can broadcast it over FM to your car stereo. Just like the Sony Ericsson MW600, it’s a multipoint device, so you can connect this to your mobile phone at the same time for handsfree calling. If/when a call comes in, the music fades out and the call is relayed through your car stereo or loudspeaker. The Jabra Cruiser has music control buttons built in that allow you to control your music in the same way as you can with the MW600. If you don’t want the physical buttons and are happy enough using voice control, then the Jabra SP700 is a good alternative.

Philips DC315 Alarm Clock Radio – iPod touch 4G
I only ever charge my iPhone at night I’m sleeping or when I’m in the car, so this is ideal. It means that I don’t have to hunt around each night for my charging cable and I don’t have to worry about accidentally decreasing the ringer volume and sleeping through my alarm. As well as charging your iPod touch, the Philips Alarm Clock can play your music through it’s own speakers. It has track skip controls built into it, so if you are listening to your music from your iPod, you won’t have to go back into the iPod app to change song. The alarm clock has dual alarms, it gives you the choice of being woken up by buzzer, music from your iPod or FM radio as well as snooze and sleep functions.
