The Nokia 5230 is the latest in a long line of simple touch screen phones. While it doesn’t have all the bells and whistles that you’ll find on Nokia’s high end phones such as the Nokia N97, the 5230 is a great choice if you’re new to touch screen phones. It features a 2MP camera, GPS and 3G connectivity for faster browsing.
If you’ve got the Nokia 5230 you’re going to want to make the most of all of it’s features, so to help you find the best ones, but with so many Cases, Bluetooth Headsets, Bluetooth Headphones and Car Kits available, getting the right ones can be a bit of a challenge, so to try and make the process a little easier I’ve compiled a list of the top 10 Nokia 5230 Accessories.
You’ve got a gorgeous 3.2 inch touchscreen phone, the last thing you’re going to want to do to it is scratch it. Martin Fields screen protectors are one of the best quality screen protectors you can get. They’re precision cut to fit the Nokia 5230 and can be removed easily, leaving no residue behind. They’re re-usable too, so if it ever gets dirty, just take it off, run it under the tap and re-fit it.
Touch screen phones are known to be power hungry, especially if you use them for Sat Nav. The Nokia DC-4 Car charger will keep your phone powered and recharge the battery while you’re in the car.
Originally designed to work with the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, the DT29 Desk stand is a great way to hold your phone on the desk. It holds it in landscape mode, allowing you to easily control your music or watch films or videos.
If you’re on the go all day and find that your phone runs out of energy before you do, then a spare battery is what you need. It can be charged either in the phone or using a Nokia Desktop Battery Charger. When one battery dies, just swap them over and you’re ready to carry on talking.
The Nokia 5230 is the perfect choice to replace your MP3 player with, so if you carry all your tunes around with you, you’ll want a way to listen to them. Headphones and the built in loud speaker are ok, but if you really want to enjoy your tunes you’ll need an external speaker. The X-Mini II speaker plugs into the headphone socket on your 5230 and considering it’s size is a powerful speaker. It will easily fill the room with your music and is portable enough to carry with you where ever you go. It has an internal rechargeable battery that charges from your PC or laptop.
If you use your phone in the car, either for calling, listening to music or sat nav, there will have been times where you just can’t hear it. The TrailBlazer solves this problem by connecting to your Nokia 5230 using Bluetooth and then streaming all audio from your phone to your car stereo over FM. All you need to do is tune your stereo into the same frequency as the TrailBlazer and you’ll be able to enjoy driving directions, phone calls and all your music in glorious stereo through your car stereo speakers. The best bit is it’s really easy to use – there’s no wires involved and no complicated set up.
If you enjoy listening to your music through headphones, one of the first purchases you’ll want to make will be for a new set. The ones in the box are ok, but as with music device, headphones in the box aren’t normally that great. The Wh-500 from Nokia is a comfortable, high quality upgrade to the standard earphones. They’re the over the head design, so are less likely to fall out of your ears and are padded for extra comfort. They have an in-line remote control that you can use to control music playback. You can also use them for calling as they have a built in Microphone.
If you want better audio, but don’t want wires, then you need to get yourself a Stereo Bluetooth Headset. They work in pretty much the same way as a standard Bluetooth Headset, but as they have two earpieces, you can listen to your music and calls in stereo. As there is no physical connection between the BH-505 and the Nokia 5230, they’re a great choice for when you’re at the gym, cycling, running etc, as you’re not going to get tangled in a mass of wires. There are music controls on the headset, so you can play, pause, skip tracks and answer calls, all without having to touch your phone.
Touch screen phones such as the Nokia 5230 are all about digital media – whether that’s photo’s, music or video. To use your Nokia 5230 as a multimedia device, you’ll need to increase the amount of information it can hold. The internal memory on the Nokia 5230 is just 70MB – that’s about enough to hold 12 MP3 files. Getting a 16GB micro SD HC memory card for it will allow you to store over 6000 high quality photos, 3000 songs or 80 hours of video.
Your phone will get knocked and dropped, no matter how careful you are with it. If you don’t want it to look battered after a week, then you’ll need to invest in a case to keep it looking like new. Silicone Cases are a perfect choice for touch screen phones. They leave the screen fully accessible while protecting the corners, back and sides of the phone. They have cut outs for your headphones, chargers and stylus and as they’re quite thin, they add very little bulk to your phone. As they don’t cover your screen, I’d recommend using them with a Martin Fields Screen Protector.

E-Readers are gaining popularity in the UK especially since the launch of the Amazon Kindle last year. Things are only set to get more competitive with Amazon announcing an International version of the Kindle DX and the upcoming launch of the Apple iPad. The Kindle DX is essentially the same as the Kindle, but has a larger 9.7 inch screen along with a few new features that allow it to work worldwide.
The Kindle DX has already started shipping from America and if you’ve ordered one and are patiently waiting for it to arrive, now is the perfect time to protect your investment and find the perfect case to help keep it safe.
We’ve just launched our range of Kindle DX accessories and have a selection of Kindle DX Cases and Kindle DX Covers available, with more due in the next few weeks. To get you started, here are our Top 5 Kindle DX Cases.
M-Edge cases are our most popular range of cases for the Amazon Kindle, and the range has now been extended to include the Kindle DX. The Go! range of cases for the Kindle DX hold your e-reader securely and keep the screen protected against knocks and scrapes. It’s a lightly padded leather case that has a soft interior that helps keep the screen of your Kindle clean. As with most M-Edge cases, the Go! case has a stitched in leather pocket to hold the M-Edge E-luminator2 Reading light. The bottom of the case is open, allowing you to charge your Kindle without having to remove it from the case.

Noreve cases are one of the most stylish cases you can get for your Kindle DX. They’re made from high grade leather and hold your Kindle DX in place without covering any of it up. The case has pockets for business/bank cards, memory cards and other paperwork such as flight or travel tickets. The case has a magnetic catch to keep the lid closed when not in use, and it’s lightly padded front and back cover help to protect your Kindle against knocks. A series of cut outs on the sides of the case allow you to charge the Kindle DX and access the headphone socket and volume keys.
The Latitude case for the Kindle DX is another popular case from M-Edge. It’s more of a casual case and is great at protecting your Kindle DX – especially if you carry your Kindle DX around in a bag with other items. It’s made from a tough Nylon fabric and has a soft fleece lining to give your Kindle as much protection as possible from knocks and bumps. The Latitude case has a pocket for carrying your charger and headphones and is available in a range of colours. The case has a zip fastening and is extremely comfortable to use, when you’re reading from your Kindle DX, you can fold the front cover behind and zip the case back up to prevent it from folding over the screen. As with most M-Edge cases, the Go! case has a stitched in leather pocket to hold the M-Edge E-luminator2 Reading light.
While this isn’t technically a case, the InvisibleSHIELD for the Kindle DX is a great way of preventing your Kindle DX from getting dirty, scratched or scuffed. The InvisibleShield is a strong, thin film that covers almost all of the Kindle DX. It’s scratchproof, wipe clean and has a non slip feel to it that helps you to keep hold of your device. Installation can be a little bit time consuming, but the end result is well worth it. InvisibleSHIELD only add a couple of millimetres to the overall size of your Kindle DX so you can easily use this in conjunction with most other cases and bags.

The Tuff-Luv Flip case for the Kindle DX is really two products in one. It’s a leather case that adds style and protection to your Kindle DX and a reading stand that makes reading from your Kindle when you’re sat at a table or desk. It holds your Kindle DX at just the right angle for reading on a Plane or Train, without the usual arm ache that comes with holding the device for long periods of time. Your Kindle DX is held securely in a stitched pocket that has cut outs for the keyboard, headphone socket and charger.

It’s not just in the car that you’ll need a secure way to mount your iPhone. If you want to be able to use your iPhone or iPod touch while you’re out and about on your bike you’ve been limited to two options – a Universal Bike holder that isn’t really suited to large, touch screen phones – especially in bad weather, or keep it in your pocket, which isn’t particularly useful if you’re trying to use sat nav or mapping on your iPhone.
Thankfully though there is now another option – the BioLogic Bike Mount for iPhone and iPod touch. The BioLogic Bike Mount for iPhone lets you attach your device to your the handlebars of your bike so you can track your GPS position, your speed, or distance travelled, while you ride using any one of a number of apps available in the App Store.
Dahon BioLogic Bike Mount for iPhone
The BioLogic Bike Mount is a weatherproof case with a built in, touch sensitive membrane that protects your iPhone or iPod touch from the weather and lets you continue to use your phone. For added shock resistance, the inside of the case is lined with silicon.
One of the great things about the Bike Mount pivots so you can use your iPhone or iPod Touch in portrait or landscape mode. The camera lens has a protective membrane over the opening so you can continue to take video or pictures while you ride.
The BioLogic Bike Mount is available to Pre-order now. For more information, take a look at the video below and head over to the BioLogic Bike Mount for iPhone product page.
A few weeks ago I compiled a list of the top 10 accessories for the Nokia 2730, but as the phone was so new, I couldn’t include many cases as there were only a couple available. As the range of Nokia 2730 cases has increased I thought it was time to run through some of the cases available to help you decide on the best Nokia 2730 case.
If you want a case for your phone and want a case that is a bit more practical than a leather case, then a FlexiShield Skin could be just what you need. FlexiShield Skins are thicker and tougher than standard Silicone Cases and add very little bulk to your phone. They they have a non slip to them and will give your phone more bounce if you drop it. They cover all of the back and sides of the handset, leaving the camera free for you to take your photos and your keypad free for texting and calling. The screen of your 2730 isn’t covered though, so I’d recommend using this case with a Nokia 2730 Screen Protector.
FlexiShield Skin For The Nokia 2730
Crystal Case – Nokia 2730 Crystal Cases, as the name suggests are crystal clear clip on covers that are designed to protect the housing of your device from scratches and absorb impact damage when you drop it. Crystal cases aren’t the most robust case you can get, but if you drop your 2730 and the case breaks, then it’s done its job properly – after all a broken case is cheaper and easier to replace than your phone. Crystal cases are one of the most affordable cases available which makes them extremely popular.
The InvisibleSHIELD isn’t really a case, more of a protective cover. It covers all of the Nokia 2730 and is a thin, tough film that can withstand the toughest of scrapes. Installation takes a little bit longer than a standard case or screen protector, but the end result is well worth it. It is great at repelling fingerprints and reducing reflections. As the InvisibleSHIELD doesn’t add any extra bulk to your phone, you can use it in conjunction with most other Nokia 2730 cases.
The Krusell Classic case for the Nokia 2730 Classic is a phone specific case that allows you to use the phone without removing it from the case. There is no chance of your phone falling out of the case either, as the case is closed with a zip. The full plastic cover makes this case ideal for those working in dirty/dusty environments. The rear of the case has a fold down cover that protects the camera lens from dirt and scratches and a Multidapt clip that allows you to attach different mounting clips. A belt clip is included as standard.
Silicone Cases are made from a soft flexible Silicone gel that covers most of your 2730. The only part left exposed is the screen, so you’ll need to use a screen protector to prevent scratches. Silicone cases add very little to your phone in the way of bulk or weight, and are a great way to protect your phone against minor knocks and scrapes.
