Best Apps for the Nintendo DS Lite & DS

R4 Cards now allow you to expand your Nintendo DS & DS Lite gaming to a new level. The R4 Revolution Card allows you to use homebrew applications developed by other people on your DS. To use an R4 card you just need to transfer the apps onto a Micro SD Memory Card and plug the memory card into your R4 Card. Once that’s done just insert the R4 Card into the game slot of your Nintendo DS or DS Lite and you can start using these apps.
To get you started here’s a list of our favourite Nintendo DS applications that you can use with the R4 Card and most of these apps can be downloaded free of charge.
DSOrganize
Gives you the ability to organise your day to day activities. DSOrganize allows you to create daily and hourly memos, store addresses, create a to-do list and even include the functionality of a calculator.
MoonShell
Make your DS into a media centre. You can listen to music, watch videos, look at stored images and read text files.
Colours
Create your very own art with the enhanced drawing programme.
NitroTracker
NitroTracker is a versatile tool for creating music – everywhere! It supports the popular XM file format that is used by many PC trackers and that can be played on many PC audio players such as Winamp or XMMS.
DSLinux
DSLinux is a project that aims to port Linux to the Nintendo DS gaming console.
MP3Play
A dedicated MP3 application.
These are just a few of our favourite apps that are available for the Nintendo DS & DS Lite and there are many more available online. If you’ve got a favourite that you think we should include here, let us know using the comments form below.
