With mobile phones being used for Internet and Email, as well as replacing our MP3 players and Sat Nav units, there is nothing worse than being out and about and running out of power. A Car Charger is the simple solution to this problem, but with Nokia changing the connections on their phones and introducing new style chargers with different sized charging pins, getting the right one can be a bit tricky.
To help you work out which is the best car charger for you, we’ve been through the entire range of Nokia Car Chargers and listed the differences between them below.
Original Nokia Car Chargers
The first mainstream Nokia Car Charger had a fairly large 3.5mm connection, and was compatible with early Nokia handsets such as the 6230i, 5110, 7110 etc.

Nokia LCH-12 Car Charger – This car charger is the only car charger available for early Nokia handset. It features an LED indictator to show when it’s charging, and will automatically stop charging when your battery is full. The LCH-12 Car Charger will work in Cars, Vans and Trucks (12v & 24v).
Nokia 2mm Small Pin Car Chargers
A few years ago, Nokia decided to change the charging port to a smaller 2mm ‘Small Pin’ Charger. You convert your older 3.5mm Nokia charger into the newer small pin charger using a CA-44 Charging adapter.
Unlike the Mains Chargers, Nokia only produce two Car Chargers for their handsets with the 2mm Charging connection. The DC-4 and the DC-9.

Nokia DC-4 Car Charger – The DC-4 Car Charger is the most popular Nokia Car charger. It features a tangle proof cable, LED indicator and as with the LCH-12, it will stop charging your phone once the battery is full. The DC-4 Car Charger will work in Cars, Vans and Trucks (12v & 24v)
Nokia DC-9 Car Charger – The DC-9 has a retractable cable that you can pull out to the size you need. The Spin Lock system keeps the cable at the correct length. To retract the cable simply press the top of the charger. As with the DC-4, the DC-9 stops charging your phone once the battery is full.
Nokia Micro USB Car Chargers
Earlier this year, several of the leading handset manufacturers announced that they were going to make Micro USB chargers standard across all mobile phones by 2012. While we may still be a way off, Nokia have now started to include this charging connection on some of their newer handsets. You can also use a CA-146C Charging adapter to convert your older 3.5mm Nokia charger or 2mm Nokia Charger into the newer small pin charger. There are 2 Nokia Micro USB Car Chargers available, the DC-6 and the DC-10.

Nokia DC-6 Car Charger – The DC-6 Charger is a lightweight, portable car charger that will work with most Micro USB devices. It has a tangle proof cable and LED indicator to show when the phone is being charged. The DC-6 stops charging your phone when the battery is full.
Nokia DC-10 Car Charger - The DC-10 has a retractable cable that you can pull out to the size you need. The Spin Lock system keeps the cable at the correct length. To retract the cable simply press the top of the charger. As with the DC-4, the DC-9 stops charging your phone once the battery is full.

Along with Stereo Bluetooth, one of the other big new features of iPhone OS 3.0 is the ability to use your iPhone as a modem with your Mac, PC or Laptop.
Tethering your iPhone is as easy as using a Mobile Broadband Dongle. You enable Internet Tethering on your iPhone, connect it to your computer using your USB Cable and away you go.

If you want to avoid having to rummage around in your bag for your USB Cable you can also connect your phone using Bluetooth. The process is just as simple and takes no time at all to set up. All you need is Bluetooth on your computer & the latest version of iTunes.
The exact process will vary slightly depending on the Bluetooth Dongle that you are using, but this is how to tether your iPhone 3G to Windows using Bluetooth:
- Turn on Bluetooth & Tethering on your iPhone
- Search for Bluetooth Devices on your PC
- Find your iPhone and enter a Passkey of your choice
- Enter the same Passkey on your iPhone
- If asked to select services for device, select PAN or Network Access
- Device will install and connect to your iPhone
- Blue Band will show at top of iPhone Homescreen when PC is connected to your phone
Simple. I have to admit, this was about the easiest phone I’ve ever set up for use as a modem. There are no drivers to install and no complicated network settings to enter, you just connect using Bluetooth and it works.
Not Got Bluetooth?
If you don’t have a Bluetooth enabled computer then don’t panic, it’s extremely easy to add Bluetooth to any PC. All you need is a USB Bluetooth Dongle.

Adding a Bluetooth Dongle to your PC won’t just help with tethering your iPhone, it will allow friends and family to send files and photo’s to your computer quickly and easily and you will be able to use a Bluetooth headset for making calls over Skype and listening to music.
Installing a dongle is quick and easy and you don’t need any knowledge of PC’s, just plug it in to a spare USB port and wait for Windows to set it up – Easy!
If you do have any problems setting it up, I’ve put a guide together on Installing your Bluetooth Dongle that will talk you through it step by step.
Don’t forget though, in order to use tethering, you will need to have the service activated by O2, who are charging an extra monthly fee for the service, although there are ways to tether your iPhone without Jailbreaking it, although there are risks involved!

Years ago if you lost or damaged your Nokia charger, I’m sure you wouldn’t have been too bothered, a Nokia charger was almost a household item and no matter where you were, chances are someone would have had one that you’d be able to use. Recently though, Nokia have been changing the connections on their phones and introducing new style chargers with different sized charging pins.
To help you work out which is the best charger for you, we’ve been through the entire range of Nokia chargers and listed the differences between them below.
Original Nokia Chargers
The first mainstream Nokia charger used a fairly large 3.5mm connection, and came with early Nokia handsets such as the 6230i, 5110, 7110 etc. Nokia make two versions of this charger, the ACP-12X and the AC-7X.

Nokia ACP-12X Mains Charger – This charger is the standard one that would have been in the box with your phone. They were quite heavy and bulky.
Nokia AC-7X Mains Charger – This charger was included with Nokia handsets around the same time as they introduced the small pin charger. In terms of functionality it’s the same as the ACP-12X, but is a much lighter charger which makes it ideal for people who travel.
Nokia 2mm Small Pin Chargers
A few years ago, Nokia decided to change the charging port to a smaller 2mm ‘Small Pin’ Charger. You can also use a CA-44 Charging adapter to convert your older 3.5mm Nokia charger into the newer small pin charger.

Despite most Nokia handsets taking the same charger, Nokia still decided to produce 4 different versions of the 2mm charger – the AC-3X, AC-4X, AC-5X and AC-8X. As everyone has become more energy concious over the past year or so, Nokia have started to give their some of their chargers energy ratings so that you can see how efficient your charger is.
Nokia AC-3X Mains Charger – The AC-3X Charger is even smaller the AC-7X and is a multi-voltage charger – this means you can use it to charge your Nokia accessories as well as your phone.
Nokia AC-4X Mains Charger – The AC-4X Charger is an ultra lightweight charger. Nokia have given this charger a 2 star energy rating.
Nokia AC-5X Mains Charger – The AC-5X Charger is the smallest Nokia charger available. It’s an ultra lightweight charger that will stop charging your phone when the battery is full. Works with accessories and phones. Nokia have given this charger a 2 star energy rating.
Nokia AC-8X Mains Charger – The AC-8X Charger is an energy efficient charger that uses 94% less power than most other chargers. It is also multi-vlotage, so it will work with Bluetooth Headsets and other Nokia accessories. Nokia have given this charger a 5 star energy rating.
Nokia Micro USB Chargers
Earlier this year, several of the leading handset manufacturers announced that they were going to make Micro USB chargers standard across all mobile phones by 2012. While we may still be a way off, Nokia have now started to include this charging connection on some of their newer handsets. You can also use a CA-146C Charging adapter to convert your older 3.5mm Nokia charger or 2mm Nokia Charger into the newer small pin charger.

Nokia AC-6X Mains Charger – The AC-6X Charger is a lightweight, portable charger that will work with most Micro USB devices. Nokia have given this charger a 4 star energy rating.
Nokia AC-10X Mains Charger – The AC-10X Charger is an energy efficient charger that uses 94% less power than most other chargers. Nokia have given this charger a 5 star energy rating.
In addition to the range of genuine Nokia Mains Chargers we also stock a wide range of third pary Nokia Chargers:

The Nokia N97 is one of the most highly anticipated handsets of the year, and if you’ve got one, you’re going to want to keep it protected from knocks and scrapes. There are a wide range of Nokia N97 cases available, but which style is right for you and which one should you go for? After getting my hands on the N97 this morning, I’ve tried on our most popular cases to see how they measure up.
Since originally writing this post, Nokia have released the Nokia N97 Mini. The N97 Mini is a smaller handset than the N97 so the cases listed here won’t fit the N97 Mini. I’ve done a separate post that covers the Top Nokia N97 Mini Cases.
1. Nokia CP-323 Carry Pouch
The first case I tried was probably my favourite of the bunch. It’s a simple fabric case that holds the phone securely. It’s a snug fit, and with a micro fibre lining, should keep the phone pretty free of finger prints. As it’s a pouch style case, you’ll need to take the phone out when you need to use it, but in terms of protection, this offers the most out of the ones I tried. This type of case is best suited to those who carry their phone around in their bag or pocket.
