Internet, WAP & Picture Message Settings (Manual)

Most of the time, your internet and MMS settings will be automatically applied when you insert your SIM card. If this fails though, sometimes you might need to input these settings manually. Find your mobile network below and add them as a new APN:

  • On Android, this is done through Settings > Wireless & Networks (or More…) > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names > press menu button > New APN.
  • On iPhone, this is done through Settings > Mobile > Mobile Data Network.
  • On Windows Phone 8, this is done through Settings > Mobile Network + SIM > Add Internet APN and Add MMS APN.
  • On Windows Phone 7, this is done through Settings > Mobile > Add APN.

The following section of this article was written in 2009. We are keeping it online in case it is useful for people with older phones, but in general this information has been superseded by the information written in the first section. If you have any questions, please let us know. Thank you.

The settings that you need to enter are the same for all phones, regardless of make, but where you have to enter them does vary from handset to handset. If you’re unsure, consult your user guide as this will explain where to enter them. If you’ve not done so already, it might be worth checking to see if you can get the settings sent to you automatically before you start. Our post on WAP and MMS settings should help you with getting them sent through to you.

9 thoughts on “Internet, WAP & Picture Message Settings (Manual)

  1. Thank you .. I been looking for this APN address time to time and keep forgeting but now i got all in one page ill save to my desktop . Thank you Mr

  2. If all the settings are correct on the phone and it’s still not working, it may be that the MMS service hasn’t been activated on your account. Best bet is contact your network and ask them to check if MMS is activated

  3. ve tried to put the settings into a lobster, a vodafone 810 and a samsung E250. None of the phones will send MMS messages. It is very frustrating.

Have you any tips on how I can activate the mms on my vodafone 810 and why the settings sent directly from Samsung are still leaving service denied messages when we try to send an mms? Any help would be greatly received. THANKS
