An amazing little speaker
The product arrived very well packaged with Olixar branding on the box and speaker. Inside you get the speaker, a hand strap, micro usb charging cable and a 3.5mm aux lead. The product doesn't include a mains adapter but that isn't an issue I have around 10 of them doing nothing anyway.
The quality is very good, it doesn't have much weight but the speaker is well built and should easily survive any bumps and drops. As the speaker is small Olixar have put the volume, skip and play button on the bottom of the unit which I can understand, personally I leave the speaker at full volume and use my phone to control everything else so I don't need access to the buttons anyway. The voice used is a little annoying but it is better than watching a flashing light
Clearly the main thing you want from a speaker is good sound, you can never expect loads of bass from a tiny speaker but unlike the M4 this speaker does reproduce some bass, drums have punch and the entire sound range is balanced and never sounds harsh. This speaker does give off some volume for its quoted 3w output. I tend to use my phone on 9/15 on the volume on my phone and this is about perfect for listening around the house. When I'm outside I tend to go a little louder to make up for the noise of the traffic etc but at 11/15 it doesn't struggle at all. Even at full volume it doesn't distort but I do tend to back it off to 14/15 to get a loud and clear balance.
The battery life is quoted at 4 to 6 hours which for a speaker of this size isn't bad, I can get well over 6 hours when using the speaker at low to medium volumes and around 5 hours at a decent level. Having some way of seeing the battery level would be nice but it charges in around an hour so keeping it topped up
The bluetooth range in an open space is around 8 meters and indoors it is a little less but it does go through my walls just fine but I do live in a new build house so I can't comment on older houses.
The wrap it up it is a great little speaker, very impressive sound for such a small unit, good battery life and 2 years warranty.
Small, yet loud and clear
The buttons are below the speaker to skip tracks etc, which seems a little odd but I guess this is to maintain a clean look and of course you can still control the music from your phone.
There is actually a female voice that informs you of how to connect via Bluetooth and of any incoming calls etc. She is a little chatty at times when a little beep should have sufficed, but there certainly isn't any confusion.
Amazing for youtube and background music
We had Michael Bublés Christmas youtube playlist blasting while putting up our tree tonight! The best thing is that if you don't like a song you can even skip through the youtube playlists using the controls on the speaker. Really, really happy with this product (I don't normally write reviews). Away to phone someone now using the handsfree feature.. why not? Thanks MobileFun!
