High end screen protection for my new HTC One
So I was in the market for a screen protector for my new HTC One. We all know the promise that comes with Gorilla glass (standard on most smartphones), long life and scratch resistant. However, it doesn't live up to the marketing in my opinion. I didn't use any screen protection on my older HTC One X, and after 6 months I could see one or two fairly large scratches on the screen (which just detracts from the phones overall beauty). So this time around, I made sure I got a screen protector from day one. With screen protectors, you get what you pay for. The very cheap 5 pound protectors seem to be quite popular and plentiful, but also produce the nastiest results. They peel off, trap dirt between the glass and generally don't last long at all. The Zagg InvisiSHIELD is one of the most expensive. But the product has built itself quite a reputation amongst most smartphone users. There are two options. Military grade or ultra clear. (at-least according to the website). The one I got was the military grade protection. The difference between the two is that the ultra clear is extremely thin, and is as clear as the glass on your phone. However, it doesn't offer much protection, and generally attracts fingerprints. The military protection has a jelly feel to it, and is about twice as thick as a regular screen protector. It feels really solid once applied. I feel comfortable that it will last as long as my phone does. Application needs to be careful and slow (as with any screen protector), and I did get a flawless result (no bubbles or dust underneath). Note: There is a noticeable texture difference when you apply the SHIELD. It adds some resistance and takes a bit getting used to. Ultimately, its a trade off, if you want the ultimate protection, get the military grade option. If you rather want a 'barely there' protector, go for the ultra clear.
