Motorola HD Dock for Motorola RAZR

When I first got this item,hooked it upto my PC, and docked my Motorola Razr Droid I assumed there was a fault with this item. In fact I even e-mailed MobileFun about an exchange. However on further investigation I found that the device was working as designed. Now I have to say I really don't know what Motorola were thinking with this dock (and it seems the others in the same family are the same) but with todays smartphones most people expect a dock to be able to hook upto a PC, and it would both charge and synch the phone.. this device does neither. Yes you did read that correctly, this desktop dock DOES NOT synch to a pc or charge via usb from a PC. In fact it does no synch'ing whatsoever! To synch you have to take the phone off the dock, disconnect the USB cable from the dock and plug it directly into the phone. This one action will also charge the phone. To charge the phone via the dock, you have to disconnect the USB cable from the PC, and plug it into the wall ac adaptor provided. So, what does this device do? Well it turns your phone into a pretty but rather expensive bedside clock if you are so inclined. Also if you hook up a micro HDMI cable it will enlarge everything on the phone screen and 'project' it onto a HDTV (@720p). Pretty much a waste of time and money overall. If you're looking for a desktop charger that both synchs and charges your phone while attached to a PC, then look elsewhere.. I think MobileFun do a not Motorola branded dock for half the price which does what you might expect it to do.

The dock is great, I use it bedside as an Alarm/charger. It has multiple features including music player & gallery. But by far the best feature is WEBTOP. When you connect to a TV via HDMI it turns the phone into a mini linux PC(the phone acts as mouse & keyboard). Which is particularly good if you travel alot with work. 4 stars as it only outputs 720p to TV and because of the mistake in description.
