Case-Mate Tough Case - HTC Desire S - Black

I had one of these for my old htc desire and it worked very well indeed. Getting one for the desire s seemed to be a no brainer. Totally shockproofs the phone making it baby resistant (our 9 month old baby cracked the screen of another one just before I bought this!) but do beware on splash resistance - I got a tiny drop of water on the "speaker" section of the back and the phone went mental. Being replaced shortly. Well made, a very good fit and enhances an already excellent phone. Doesn't quite make it a tough phone but gets close. Desire case came with a screen protector - this one doesn't which is slightly odd. Good delivery from mobilefun too.

Good fit. I like the 2 piece construction of close fitting silicon rubber skin with a second plastic cover over the top. There are cut outs in all the right places to allow full use of the phone's features with the exception of GPS which wont work with the cover in place. This is a pain for me as the very time I most need a tough case is when I'm cycling/mountain biking and use the GPS to track what I'm doing, navigation is also unusable with the case in place. If I need to change the memory card or sim the whole lot has to come apart but I guess that's a compromise between protection and ease of use. There's no screen protection but the case usually holds the screen away from surfaces etc but it is going to remain vulnerable from pointy stuff like keys in your pocket. So a separate screen protector would be a good idea. I think the case also improves the feel of the phone in the hand, I find nearly all smart phones a little too thin and flimsy, this case improves that without making the phone bulky and still fit's neatly in the pocket. If not for the GPS issue and the remarkable price tag this would have been 5 stars but it'll have to be 4 for now...

I bought this case on the same day as buying my Desire S (never had a case for my Legend. Trying to fit this case is impossible, there always seems to be a part of the silicone inner just not quite in the correct place. I understand that it has to be bulky to give the level of protection, but this case just detracts from the beauty and elegance of the Desire S. Sorry to say, I wasted my money as the case sits unused in a drawer.

I've been looking for a case for my HTC Desire S for the last week or so and hated not having any protection on the phone since I bought it. Within 24 hours my Case-Mate Tough was delivered and I'm very pleased with it so far. Yes, it does add a bit of bulk to the phone but not as much as you think and to be honest, it feels better in the hand with this case on. Without it, the phone looked very sleek but always felt like it might slip out of the hand pretty easily. No such problems now. Any downsides to the case? Can't say there are, apart from perhaps the exposed rubber skin at the top and bottom of the phone attracting dust but that's a minor thing for such good protection. Glad I went for this over the Barely-There case.

Excellent fitting case and screen protector. It all looks and feels safe now, it was doing my head in carrying the phone round without any protection for the first couple of days. Next day delivery by MobileFun, excellent service, thank you.

This case has changed my views on mobile phone cases. I never did like the idea of covering up my mobile, but after getting the stunning HTC Desire S, I felt that I had to protect it...at least until the novelty fades. This case has dual layers - an inner soft rubbery layer and an outer hard plastic cover. fitting the Desire S into the case was a little tricky at first but the trick is to separate the layer and fit the phone into the soft layer first and then slide it into the hard outer cover...simple! The power and volume buttons are covered by the soft layer and can be easily accessed whilst protected. The case feels great in the hand and looks stunning. The case packaging has the slogan "Think Rambo", but for me, your Desire S inthis case, it's more like, Batman, the Dark Knight!

This product is a perfect fit for the HTC Desire S. Best case I have had, but also the most expensive one I have had too. Not sure it warrrents the high price, but I suppose its worth it if it stops my phone from bring damaged. Not dropped it yet so can't comment on the protection it offers, but it does look sturdy. screen protector fits well too, but makes the screen not so nice to touch, slight grabby feeling to it. Overall I am happy with my purchase.

Perfect protection for an expensive bit of kit, seconds to fit, integrates like it is part of the handset, all functions available with perfect alignment of cut-outs, good quality screen protector an added bonus, combine with delivery achieved in less than 18 hours from order, what more needs to be said!

In short this is a very good protective case once on. I say once on as it is a nightmare to fit! If you want a cover that you slip on and off this probably isn't for you. However, I intend to leave it on permanently so this isn't a problem for me. Another issue is the price. Whilst MobileFun was the cheapest I could fine on the net the case can't have cost much to make as it is 2 pieces of injection moulded plastic, so to charged 20 something pounds is daylight .....!

Complete nightmare to fit - if you intend to remove your case on a frequent basis get another case! Once fitted however it will provide good protection. Screen protector provided almost impossible to put on without geting air bubbles trapped so new phone doesn't look as good as it should. Case itself is well made but probably costs pence to make in volume in China so case-mate are making a killing. Having said that Mobilefun were the cheapest online.

Great product, fairly tricky to fit (had to get one of my sons to fit it!!!!) but well worth it and it gives very good protection.

I had the old Desire for 14 months. In that time I tried all manor of cases, until I found the Case-Mate Tough Case. It did a fantastic job of keeping my phone immaculate despite several nasty drops. So when I got My Desire S the decision was easy. I bought a cheap £1 Gel case until this case was available, then bought it as soon as Mobile Fun advised it was in stock. A first-rate service from them again. If protecting your phone from almost any drop or knock is your thing, then get this. Yes the Desire S is a very pretty phone in it’s own right, and it is a shame to put a case on it, but you want it staying pretty right? I take my case off when at home anyway, and it should be noted that you NEED to take it off when using your Desire S for Google Maps Sat Nav. This aluminium uni-body construction might be sturdy and kind on the eye, but it keeps heat in really well! You add a two-part chunky case to that whilst using Sat Nav on a hot day, and you’ll have it overheat and re-start on you! The screen protector included with this case appears to have been sized for another phone and doesn’t fit at all. A hiccup on their production line I suspect. But I e-mailed Case-Mate (EU) about it last night and they replied this morning saying they are posting out a replacement! Excellent customer support from them so still 5 stars. I have a cheap screen protector to tide me over in the interim, and this screen is made of Gorilla Glass so up to you if you even want to fit a protector. I’m paranoid! The case fits very snugly, all the cut-outs line up perfectly, and it is nice to hold with it’s textured outer-armour shell. It’s also provides some needed protection for your camera lens, which would otherwise be in contact with any surface when laid on it’s back. I don’t mind the extra bulk it adds to the phone as it’s doing an important job. The peace-of-mind it provides more than makes up for the slight detraction from the phone’s form.
