Quality car cradle
The build quality of this car kit is excellent, and the attachment to either the window or the adhesive backed dashboard mount (which was included) is rock solid.
The clip on top of the cradle covers the on/off button on my Desire HD, but that's a minor problem as the phone automatically goes into "Car Panel" mode when docked, and stays on as long as the charger cable is connected.
Docking the phone is a little fiddly at first (you get used to it!) but the phone is held very securely, and once you've mastered the technique for getting it docked & undocked it's fine.
Far better than any of the generic cradles I've seen; expensive, but worth it.

Excellent Product
I got this car kit for Xmas and have now used it every day for two months in my van.
It's not designed for the HD but still fits snugly. The power button being covered is not a problem as you can just unplug and re-plug the cigar lighter jack to activate the screen.
The inbuilt usb connector is a bonus as you don't have to mess around connecting the lead to the phone. Only downside is that it doesn't have a true 360 deg rotation as the arm are keyed so landscape mode with the connector to the right on a RH drive vehicle is not possible.
Still 5 stars for a holder that's not initially designed for the HD

Very nice!
Having got my Desire HD, and having realised its navigation capabilities, I decided I wanted a proper car kit. This kit appealed to me because not only is it compact, it also has the advantage of having the power cable going into the base, rather than the phone itself, as well as being dash mountable. The units sits on an adhesive disc that adheres to the dashboard, and am pleased to report that it has stuck solid! As long as the surface is cleaned beforehand to remove any polish, and is dry, you will find this method of mounting works very well. And because the cable doesn't move, it never gets in the way, which is very convenient.
Fears about the phone being a tight fit were unfounded. As Mobile Fun stated on here it is, indeed, a firm fit, with the phone being held securely in position. In fact it is easy to insert and remove the phone and I had no problems.
The kit is of excellent quality, and matches the quality of the phone itself. Also, prospective purchasers need not worry about the original Desire HD2 design, as the Android-based HD fits it perfectly.
This kit isn't cheap, but I'm glad I paid the extra as it's an excellent product. It's easy to use and I recommend it wholeheartedly.

Expensive, but nothing better
This is the best car kit you can get for the Desire HD – it fits the phone perfectly, plus charges it and is detected as a car kit so opens up the navigation screen by default when connected (I don't use that though - Google Navigation is much better & free)
You pay the price for this though; it’s pricey – as all genuine HTC kit seems to be.
I don’t have any problem getting the phone in and out – it’s a snug fit, and I’d imagine any protective shield might make that a very tight or non-fit, but as is it’s fairly easy to get in and out.
Negatives...
For the money they could have least chucked in a couple of spare dashboard suction bases – which would allow you to use one in another car / relocate it. And perhaps more than just one suction pad attached to the power cable.
Power button and headphone socket are covered when docked – not a problem for me as I don’t need that (and you can make the phone come on if by simply unplugging and plugging in the cigarette lighter power rather than the top button).
Problem I have (which isn’t really the products fault) is that I can’t find anyway of making the navigation sound come out the phone when I have it connected to the car via Bluetooth (for calls). In my car (a new Mondeo) that means I can’t have both sat Nav and Radio/CD/MP3 sound output in the car unless I disconnect it from Bluetooth – and then I can’t take/make calls on hands free.
But anyway, great, if expensive product.

Mr
Great modern design auto connects to navi programme when connected device but one problem for me and it makes a big difference is that the headphone socket is also covered as the power button so you cannot connect the phone via the aux input in your car taking away the ability to use the car speakers to play music and use the car speakers for hands free phone calls big let down. The ability to connect to the aux while in the cradle would have given this product 5 stars.

HTC Desire HD Car Upgrade Kit
What a great piece of kit! The only fault is that it is a bit on the tight side when you try to put the phone On and take it Off the cradle. If it was not for that I would have had given it 5 stars.

Doesn't fit
Got this for HTC Desire HD and it doesn't fit. The end bulges out where the charging plug fits into the phone and it's really hard to get in and out. Shame really cos it's the most solid high quality cadle I've ever used.
MobileFun Reply:
Thanks for the review however as stated in the text, this kit was originally designed for the HD2. Also the video shows that it is a tight yet secure fit.

Great
Great official product, as described in text, however the power button for the Desire HD is at the top, not on the front like the HD2 but this isn't a problem for me. Thanks
