OtterBox For Commuter Series For HTC Desire

Had my case a full three months now. A really solid piece of kit that I have no issues with an any respect. Quibble - the camera lens is not really protected, but on the plus it means I can take pics without opening a camera case. The USB port plug is used daily. The plug is as tight as ever and shows no signs of failing. I'd recommend this to anyone, anytime.

The nature of my work demands that I have a phone capable of good communications with various I.T. capabilities. This generally means a smart type phone. That usually means a less than sturdy frame and a large, potentially fragile screen. The HTC Desire fits the bill on the first counts so I was looking for a means to 'beef' it up. The phone is often carried in a trouser pocket, a leg-map pocket or a rucksack, so there is always the chance that the screen might come under unwanted pressure. The ideal would be a soft bumper case surrounded by a hard shell (polycarb)and either a side hinged fold right back (book cover type) screen cover or a holster that can mount the phone screen inwards - polycarb - not leather. (I've seen just that for the iphone4) The Otterbox Commuter Series goes part of the way with the soft bumper cover and polycarb back. It also comes with a transparent screen overlay. The rubber bumper is a good but not perfect fit, held in place on three sides and the back by the polycarb hard shell but not along the top where it is slightly loose. This top edge sometimes catches when removing the phone from where it is stowed. Shame the hard case doesn,t cover the top. The rubber bumper has integral caps for the phones sockets which locate well and so far have not become detached even with moderate use, though the earphone cap sometimes pops up. The 'screen protector' is really a 'scratch preventer' and I can't see it providing any real mechanical protection to the screen. The quality and style of the items is very good and they don't increase the dimensions of the phone noticably. Depending on the beholders viewpoint they might even improve the appearance of the phone. A good effort, probably useful to a 'Commuter' where the phone is carried in an inside jacket pocket or briefcase. For my needs doesn't go quite far enough.

I got this instead of the defender after reading bad things about the screen guard and silicon case. Ive got to say im really happy, and its an ace case. However I do feel its far to pricey especially when you get it and theres really not much to it. Oh well, still good.

Very fast delivery from mobilefun. Very impressed with this protection, saved my phone several times when the kids drop it. easy to fit and tough but hardly noticable when using the phone.

No surprises, the cover does what promises. Pro's: Tight fit, good grip, looks good. Protection so far seems to be more than adequate. Con's: A tad expensive, fidly flaps for the headphone and micro usb slot. Quite satisfied but early days, time will tell....

I Chose this case after reading lots of reviews and am very happy with the purchase. Easy to fit and gives plenty of protection while leaving the phone easy to use. The only downside is fitting the screen protector. I was as carefull as possible to have a dust free area and cleaned everything before I started. However a small speck of dust attached to the 'sticky' side and has left a spot top left on the screen. Not a problem in use, just iritating.

Better than any other case protector i've used. Having the gel inner and hard outer case works brilliantly. Well worth the money. Screen protector not good though.

The Otterbox range never let you down when you want a case that will protect your phone and with the Commuter Series for HTC Desire it really delivers. You still keep the style of the phone (which you want with HTC) as well as I would guess 80% protection. The keys and camera lens are exposed to dirt & scratches however the screen is covered by a stick on plastic. If you want 99.9% protection prepare for it to make your phone look like a huge brick eg Defender series. If style over substance is what you require this is a great protective cover.

Outer case is as with all otterbox products robust and well made. I have some reservations about the 'flaps' which cover the mini usb and other ports, I think they will fail quickly, but only time will tell!.

I have to agree with Kieron S. & fentot's reviews already posted. I worked at a place wholesaling Otterbox equipment years ago when they made protective cases for PDAs, laptops etc. for use in extreme conditions such as sailing boats & expeditions. I knew the reputation and had experienced the quality of Otterbox equipment so was quite excited to learn that they had moved into phone cases too. I waited a few weeks before this case was available for the Desire, and I have not been disappointed. It is very high quality, sturdy, but not to clumsy or bulky either. I no longer have to worry about being super-careful with my delicate Desire, even face down the Otterbox protects it. What bulk it does add to the phone, makes the phone fit better in the hand and feel solid. After a few weeks the case still looks new, even resting it on rough surfaces doesn't scratch the finish. The most expensive case I have ever bought, but well worth it and I have recommended it to others.

Rubber inner case, harder plastic case outside. Fits realy nice all controls are still easy to use.

A very good product....a little expensive but very easy to use and fit. Its only downfall is the fact I have to strip the case off to use my desktop charger..the best case I have had yet

Ive had three covers for my desire and the otterbox commuter is without doubt the best ive had, secure small and most importantly fits like a glove.

After doing a good bit of research on two-piece combination cases for the Desire I reduced the playing field to offerings from Case-Mate and Otterbox. In this instance the Otterbox Commuter won out over the Case-Mate Tough Case because of the Otterbox's built-in silicone plugs which are useful for keeping dust and moisture out of the 3.5" audio and Micro USB ports. The Commuter case is of a very high quality and appears capable of protecting the phone from all but the most severe knocks and falls. In my opinion the case doesn't add any significant weight or bulk to the phone either.

Bought this together with Martin Fields screen protector. So far I'm pretty impressed, fits nicely to the desire, makes it look a bit bigger but actually makes it feel more sturdy and less fragile in your hand. Altogether it feels pretty good. The edges might makes the side of the screen a bit harder to reach but not impossible. Everything else is an improvement, my only concern is the USB access port, rubber covering is going to get a lot of movement due to daily recharge needed for the desire. But if it needs to come off then it won't make much difference to quality of this product. Thanks mobilefun, cheaper than the rest and quick.
