Not a phone for doing software development
Although the phone is lovely (apart from a rather short battery life), I should warn anyone that it is NOT suitable as a development phone. Motorola have locked the bootloader (even though the Droid isn't), and so you can't really use it as a dev phone.
If I had known this when I bought mine, I would have gone for a N1 instead. Not Mobile Fun's fault, but I'm still rather cross about it.

Well Done Moto!
What a great device - i've just moved from an iPhone 3G, and this device trumps it in spades :)
The soft-keyboard is better (with haptic feedback), you have a hardware keyboard, the screen is bigger, there are more (and better) apps in the app store (OpenVPN/SSH clients WITH Tunnelling, etc) - this device is great for normal users, and a godsend to Uber Geeks!
So far, I've not found anything I don't like... I am sure I will though, but so far so good :)

great alternative
this device got everything u ever wanted , touch screen is impressive very accurate not as good as iphone but other features make up for it, i won't compare it to winmo device cos this is far greater OS than winmo could ever wish it could be, got my samsung omnia2 last month very dissapointed with winmo 6.5 and the touch screen was really really bad think twice b4 getting winmo device. i am quite sure u won't be dissapointed getting the milestone and build quality is very impressive too

Moto Miss
The Moto Milestone. What a phone. This is the UK version of the American Moto Droid as it is known. To begin, for viewing, the screen is far superior to that of an iPhone, and i say that because people often make comparisons to the iPhone. This version of the Android operating system is by far the best, but still it's slow to respond and has inacuracies when selecting text and options when web browsing.
Build quality is good, but the keypad is unbelievably bad. It has a flat 'paper like' keypad which is terrible to use. It looks terrible and feels awful and cheap and...flat?
Compared to my iPhone 3GS, it's still way behind in the apps department and overall user experience, and too complicated for the average user.
The 2 star rating is simply because of 'that keypad'!
There are better smart phones out there. And for once, i don't mean the iPhone.
Seek and you shall find, but not here.

Move over ifony here come the big boys
Wow, I have had the milestone since christmas and what a device. I upgraded from a winmo sony xperia x1 and what a leap forward.
The phone is lightning quick, multitouch screen is super responsive and the voice recognition is top notch.
Multiple applications (take note appple) run quickly and simply and the GPS is very quick to aquire satellites.
Android marketplace is very easy to use and full of great programs.
I'm extreemly happy with the milestone and my friend who bought an iphone 4gs for xmas is already regretting it
2010 is android shaped!
