Custom vs. Universal - Custom every time
Couldn't decide on the more expensive HTC branded item, or a universal holder - other reviews persuaded me to go custom, so thanks.
The holder is super-chunky, with a very snug fit for the phone, plus easy access to the on/off switch, and the volume controls, top left of the phone. The charger goes miles, enabling me to fit the holder to the right of the steering wheel, and plug the other end into the cigar lighter socket to the left of the centre console. One point here though is that you can't put the phone on charge, and then put it in the holder, so when placing the holder, leave yourself enough room to plug in the phone end of the charger in-situ. Another top point is the short 'arm'. When I first got it out of the packaging I thought thats far too short, but actually its fine, and on the up side it virtually eliminates shake, making music selection, phone answering and SatNav dead easy on the go. Finally, and the thing that makes this 5 stars, it comes with a separate plastic disk, with self adhesive tape on the back. Where ever you stick this, the suction cup on the other end of the holder will go, so you don't necessarily have to stick the holder to the windscreen - good on many levels, but the 2 best are no dirty circles on the inside of the windscreen, and no tell-tale empty holders on show.
All-in-all very happy

It's much better than I expected!
Actually it’s reasonably priced at £14.95 Rather than a bendable gooseneck, I tried on these before, this is a far more sturdy approach so it doesn’t bounce up and down while you’re driving or going over speed bumps and it provides a firm hold when you are touching the screen.
You can rotate your Touch HD a full 360 degrees, so it's fine portrait and in landscape -which is my specific requirement- and is ideal if you’ve got SatNav software. It worked well on it’s first journey. I like the idea of the modular kit, so it does indeed clip well to your belt, which wasn’t why I’d bought it, as I’ve ordered a case. Also the cigarette adapter is really well made, with an LED indicator, plenty of cable that doesn’t strain to pull itself out at either end, it fits in firmly to the HD’s mini USB so won’t pull out, it also has two connections on the cigar power supply one indicated for mini USB headphones and another a jack plug that is indicated for a speaker.
It’s made out of decent quality plastic. All in all it’s impressed me and does exactly what I bought it for and more. So five stars from me!
