Super Compact Phone
E55 comes in compact package, great battery life and does all the things I need. Using it with Virgin the email works easily the keyboard may slow fast typers unless you use predictive text. Great sat nav and now it is free even better.

Excellent phone
I have had the phone for a week now. The battery life seems excellent - the indicator hasn't ever fallen from maximum, although it has been connected to my computer a couple of times and would have charged then.
All the basic functions work very well. It is nice to have e-mail and maps and I have downloaded some European maps as well as the UK / Ireland supplied.
Phone seems well made and it is very thin / neat.
Possible downside on a phone with so many functions is that everything is controlled by buttons (not touch screen) but you can set up several shortcuts on the home page.
The keyboard took a litle time to get used to - being qwerty and two characters to a button. I wouldn't want the buttons any smaller but they work fine.
I haven't yet used the music player, radio or downloaded any apps.

Brilliant Kit
I love my E55 and highly recommend it - for those who know what they want. Keyboard is quite pleasant to use. However the device is far less simple than a touch screen device; but then it's far more capable as well. Certainly not for the "faint hearted".
It is a multitasking beast. It can be a mail client, webserver, and a hotspot, all while looking up a song on Shazam.
One small caution: Nokia's Internet Radio and Nokia's Podcasting apps were dropped from the E52 and E55. I've been having a hell of a time trying to get current versions to install.

Poor phone software
It is typical of the big mobile phone manufacturers. They mass produce. Speed and not quality is the priority. A good phone is let down by poor software.
My first E55 froze and kept shutting down.
The second one worked almost perfectly, except certain features that the manual said were available were not.eg. Contacts can supposedly be assigned with pictures and ringtones, but they cannot.
To cap it all, when I call Nokia, the staff are not english. They speak english, but not cleary. It makes the situation a little more frustrating to deal with.
If this issue is not resolved within a week, then it will be the last Nokia I will buy.
