Apple iPhone 3G Glass Display with Digitizer

Okay, so I learned the hard way that the bottom of one's handbag is not an ideal 'home' for an iphone... With the glass smashed but the digitizer still working (amazingly), I looked for solutions and found this site, I then looked on youtube for detailed instructions, checked out various competitors offerings - then concluded that the item i wanted was in the first shop i visited (sound familiar?) I placed my order on Monday - it arrived on Tuesday (lightening speed) and set about making the repair myself. You'll need a small suction cup (check out Youtube for images - they are available in most hardware stores), a very small micro philips screwdriver, good sharp tweezers, a paperclip, heat gun (or hairdryer, but takes longer), some strong double sided tape (please note that this product does not come with the adhesive strips you see in the instructional demos on Youtube - so you will have to cut some yourself), scissors, a steady hand and some patience. The instructional video I used lasted about 10 minutes - in reality the repair took about an hour - but well worth it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4mboB8p-sdw I am with the previous reviewer - do not go for cheaper products on Ebay etc as the glass is often not attached to the digitizer which will be time consuming, messy and may not even work... If you love your iPhone - probably wiser to not take short cuts just to try and save a few pennies. This product is perfect - I now have what looks like a brand new iPhone - Happy Days!!!

If, like me, you dropped your phone and cracked the glass, but not the LCD, this is probably the part for you, even if the touch sensor is still working. The digitizer and glass outer panel are glued together, and separating them requires solvents, gentle prising and GREAT care, all while working in the presence of sharp broken glass, and then the new glass must be glued back on to the digitizer, and any bubbles or uneven glueing will ruin the display on the phone. Although more expensive, this part will make for a much cleaner, faster and overall less frustrating repair.
